I wouldn't say that getting rid of the police force is the way to go. The option may be to merge with other agencies, making a metro type department that shares only one admin (that will save money) and leaves more working joes on the street.

Sure. Canning an entire police department and giving more area for the same amount of Sheriff's deputies to cover is a great idea.
