"You're weird."
Yesterday I had one of the most awesome experiences at my job. As I went to our break area I noticed about eight ladies dressed in very colorful clothing. As I came closer I could hear them speaking amongst themselves. They were speaking Indian!
As I got near them I stopped. A few of them turned and looked at me. As I clasped my hands I said, "Namaste." They all stopped, as their eyes grew large, in unison, clasped their hands and said, "Namaste." I smiled and they went their way. As they walked away, I could hear them say namaste over and over as if in amazement.
I turned to the break area and saw a lone cashier on break. She looked at me and said, "You're weird."To Live Is To Eat

I get the "you're weird" remarks a lot. Normal people don't seem to have much fun, so why not be different?

I followed up by asking her why it was weird to be diverse and appreciate other cultures. She did not have a response. I went on to tell her that I could address her in Thai, Viet, Laos, Bosnian and Spanish. She then asked me to do that, and I did.
