I think all LEOs have some sort of OCD. It's just our attempt to do what we always do, bring order to chaos and predictability to the unpredictable.
SI VIS PACEM PARA BELLUM-Ex-Sheriff Martin Howe to Will Kane in "High Noon"
"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.

When I'm working I wash my hands first when going to the bathroom. After my business I wash again and use the towels to turn off to the water and open the door. I do that second part anytime I use a public bathroom. I used to work at a Fortune 500 international consulting company. I heard a guy pinch one off in a stall and walk out without washing. I realized if you could have an MBA and make 6 or 7 figures a year and not wash your hands after taking a crap there was no safe public bathroom in the world.

If I even walk into a bathroom, I have to wash my hands. Even if I don't do anything else. If I can't, my hands feel grungy til I can.
