NYPD frisks dropped by 22% in 2012The number of times New York City police officers stopped, questioned and frisked people in 2012 dropped by 22 percent from the previous year, according to statistics the Police Department released on Friday.Paul J. Browne, the department’s chief spokesman, attributed the lower numbers to more training and a shift in deployment. For example, fewer officers have been assigned over the past few months to Operation Impact, a program that puts recent graduates of the Police Academy in high-crime neighborhoods with instructions to seek out suspicious behavior, Mr. Browne said.

It's called depolicing and it's happening in Seattle too in response to the Justice Department's oversight. Mr. Browne knows this but you simply cannot admit that kind of thing if the mayor wants to be re-elected.

Exactly what Car4 said. Why put your neck out when you'll just get sued and the dept will throw you under the bus.'Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a
delusional, illogical liberal minority, and rabidly
promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which
holds forth the proposition that it is entirely
possible to pick up a turd by the clean end!'

172 thousand less stops and only 39 less guns.
Problem here was pressure being put on the officers to make these stop and frisks. How do you put quotas on terry stops???? Shit stops was the end result....and a lot of them!
