The Bobby Smith Story: Tragedy to Triumph
Tell a Friend about this Course
In 1986, working as a Louisiana State Trooper, Bobby Smith was shot in the face and blinded in the line of duty on a Louisiana Highway. As a result of his shooting and the aftermath of trauma, Bobby realized the need for law enforcement officers to have assistance in dealing with post trauma. Based on his education and experience, Bobby has become the renowned author of two books, Visions of Courage, the Bobby Smith Story and his newest one, The Will to Survive, published in January 2005. Bobby is also an incredible, dynamic, motivating speaker. He is recommended for emergency responders, spouses, and most especially supervisors or agency heads! Bobby’s message of perseverance and the human spirit is also appropriate for civic leaders and clergy. Bobby has spoken in every major city across the United States and in several countries abroad and has headlined at major events such as FBI Academy and NSA; Bobby averages approximately 150 speaking engagements a year and has addressed over one million people.
In 2001, Bobby founded and currently serves as the Director of FORTE (Foundation for Officers Recovering from Traumatic Events). Bobby’s on-going goal is to provide training and counseling for law enforcement, fire fighters, emergency services personnel, and their families going through various traumatic events.
