Inmates pay for nicer cellsInmates pay $60 for each 12 hours they serve. The money off-sets jail operation costs. A judge can let a nonviolent criminal to serve up to 90 days in the Roseville jail, and they don't have to serve it all at once. They can take up to three times the amount of their sentence. For example, someone who has to serve 30 days can take up to 90 days spacing their sentence out over weekends and other days.
One of the newest programs is a jail in Fremont where select inmates can pay $155 per night to avoid what could be a rougher time at jails in Oakland and other parts of Alameda County. However, it's only open to people convicted of misdemeanors, and they have to get a judge's approval first.

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.

So if the rich guy's lawyer couldn't get him out if everything entirely, at least the time spent in will be more cushy. Guess this doesn't count as unequal treatment under the law.\\` ` ` ` < ` )___/\
