Sexist girls' shirts discontinued after outcry
The Children's Place discontinues production of girl's T-shirt after sexist controversy | Deseret News
A popular kids clothing store, The Children's Place, has discontinued the production of a T-shirt marketed toward young girls because of the controversy it has caused.
The New Jersey-based retailer apologized on Monday for the message that was on the girls' shirt that read, "My best subjects" and below listed several checked items such as shopping, music and dancing. The last item was left unmarked and read "Math. Well, nobody's perfect."
In a statement on its Facbeook page
the company said:
"We take feedback from our customers very seriously. It has come to our attention that some of you view our Best Subjects T-shirt as insensitive towards girls and women. This was not our intent. There are countless women in all walks of life who excel in math, including our very own CEO. We have pulled this product from our stores and we want to express our apologies to anyone we may have offended.
