Can someone help
I like these forums, but I am having a major problem that the mods cant (or wont) help with.It is most likely something I am doing wrong as I aint a computer wiz,so maybe someone can help(sheriff r u listening?).I come to the home page, log in it shows me logged in ,in the box,but at the bottom of the page it states I cant post etc.and I have to relog in evry time I change a page or try to post.I also cant get into the secure areas even tho I am verified, and a supporting member.Admin said it is my comp. but I have tried mine,my wifes, and the ones at work same thing, admin said security to high ,or something with cookies???Someone please help before this $1100. laptop goes through a window...

I've already tried to help you. No one is ignoring you, or refusing to help. Did you change the skin to Law Enforcement, in your profile options? Did you try my other suggestions?

Are you using a firewall or other security program? First try going to your browser's menu bar and select Tools>Internet Options.
Then go to the privacy tab and make sure your slider is set to medium.
If that doesn't work, let me know."My motivation is slipping, people bug me, and I'm tired of wasting my time on drivel."

Have you tried turning off your firewall to see if that makes a difference? You may need to except cookies or something.
Go to Tools then Internet Options and then Security Settings. Once there you may need to click on customize settings. See if something needs to be enabled or disabled in that area.
I don't know what other suggestions LEF has suggested to you to try but let us know if none of those help.

A smile cost nothing, but gives so much.
It enriches those who receive it,without making poorer those who give.It takes but a moment, but the memoryof it sometimes lasts forever.
None is so rich or mighty that hecan get along without it,and none is so poor but thathe can be made rich by it.
A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters goodwill in business, and is the countersign of friendship.
It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad,and it is nature's best antidote for trouble.
Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed,or stolen, for it is something that is of novalue to anyone until it is given away.
Some people are too tired to give you a smile.Give them one of yours, as none needs a smileso much as he who has no more to give.

I was tied up and got to this subject late.
What was the question again?

05-27-06, 05:35 PM #10FishTail GuestI take exception to that. Myself and the mod team bust our butts getting people (like you) verified and helping people out with problems. We keep trolls and spam off of here so you can use the site to interact with people without hassle. We tidy threads by making sure they're in the right section and we fix broken quotes and hyperlinks so that users can read them easier and navigate faster. And we do all this for free, in our own time.

Longtail,I sent an apology yesterday(long before your post)that after rereading my post I could see where I could have put it better,if you will note in my other posts on here I admit I am pretty much computer illiterate, and get aggravated.BUT,it got lost somewhere,(I did it in a hurry while getting ready for night shift and may not have hit the submit) so I will now take this space(and hope I dont screw up again) to publicly apologize if I have ruffled feathers, that 100% was NOT my intent.
Oh by the way this piece of crap wouldnt let me log in again this am,HOWEVER I found that by going to my history and clicking on where I got on yesterday I could get into everything again.Uhhhh is Rod Serling an admin????I KNOW it has to be me somehow because with 800 or so members and me the only one I know of with this problem ,its got to be me,I have pm d roses and when she wakes up/and I wake up maybe we can figure it out.Once again my apologies.

The best way to learn the ins and outs is to play around with it (not in the shower though); experiment, try different things. You can't hurt it, unless of course, you do decide to throw it out the window. Then, again, it all depends on how high up you are (no, I haven't tried this). I want to caution you though... doing this will only end up hurting you and big time, since it will cost you your hard earned money to replace it. I knew I would get your attention sooner or later.
Also, when working with computers, try breathing in and out. I say this because based on an earlier post of yours, I'm sure your blood was boiling at the time of the posting. Not good, my friend.
Not necessarily. I was having the same problems on another forum similar to this one. Every single time I tried to send a PM I was forced to log back in. Aggravating as it was, I didn't let it get the better of me, since my posts in the threaded discussions were not being affected (I wasn't having the same problem). Had this been the case... well, we won't go there (I'm trying to encourage you; not discourage you). As it turned out, I was logging in in the wrong area (the forum has to log in points).

Most likely it's something really, really simple, and you'll be kicking yourself for making such a big deal about it in the first place. I suppose the point I'm trying to make is this - don't let something so silly get the best of you. Don't misunderstand.

I've got the forums page saved in my favorites, and I saved it after I logged in. The only time I had problems was when I was logging in at work, signing in from the main page, and didn't have it set to remember me. Then I'd get the problems you described.
Oh, you also have to have cookies enabled, else it forgets who you are.\\` ` ` ` < ` )___/\
