Visited a movie set about 10 miles from me this evening. Here is the title and images from the live set.

Plot Outline: God (Morgan Freeman) contacts Congressman Evan Baxter (Steve Carell) and tells him to build an ark in preparation for a great flood.

Huntsville Police? The name for the police in the movie???

That's my daughter. She was taking the pictures.

The local county police would not allow anybody to stop in the road and take pictures. And Universal didn't really want anybody taking pictures as well. (Tough!!!) A female detective I know stopped and chatted with me, but she couldn't exempt me from the same rules she had to enforce against everybody else. She was nice about it.

Then a gung ho security guard flew up on me when I used a driveway to turn around in. He came up like Kojak in his 15 year old piece of crap two tone Jimmy-mobile flailing his arms and yelling we were on private property and we had move on. This is the kind of moron you can only hope never gets on a police force. I shook my head at him and waved as I continued to turn around. Who in the world hires these idiots?

You can tell the height and size of the Ark by this picture..... the triangular supports at bottom are about 7 or 8 feet tall.

I would ask how old your daughter is but i know how cops feel about other cops asking about there daughters....lol

If the Ark was totally completed on the back, I would like to have it to sail around the world in. There doesn't appear to be any cheap thin lumber in constructing this thing! and it appears to be expertly built. But I never got closer than 30 feet to it, so it's hard to tell really.

I would love to know what they do with all the lumber when they are finished with it too. I wonder if they just give it to people, or burn it?

The two police cars in back with different striping are Albemarle County, Virginia police cars. The other three "Huntsville" police cars are for the movie. I would suspect "Huntsville" is a name made up just for the movie??? (And perhaps they are going to have Albemarle County, Virginia Police cars in the movie too and fixed up replicas of their cars??? But, since they have the new trunking antennas on the back of the roofline though,I doubt they are replicas fixed up for the movie. Maybe just on loan to the movie?) I didn't talk to anybody that could answer these questions. They would be pretty tight lipped anyway probably, because they are actually working for Universal Studios at this site.

I would ask how old your daughter is but i know how cops feel about other cops asking about there daughters....lol

The film crews don't work on Sundays (Union regulationss). The cars are parked for the day.

Just learned John Goodman is in the movie too. And Lauren Graham from Gilmore Girls plays Evan's wife. She is staying in a motel just a mile from me. Maybe I can take her to dinner one night.

And maybe she can hook you up with a free case of Hershey bars - One of the web sites said that her father is a lobbyist for the chocolate and confection industry.

Usually anything built by Union set builders has to be taken apart again - then again - that suckers big enough to become a theme park attraction!
