Wannabe: Someone who wants to be a LEO, but due to life or other circumstances, won't/can't become one. This isn't a derrogatory term, just one meant to imply you want to work in this field.
Gonnabe: an applicant in the process, a recruit in the academy, or a student studying to become a LEO after graduating.
Already-is: a LEO or C/O (part-time or full-time, so long as you're sworn).

I am a 'has-been' Yoda, 2nd Class who is 'out to pasture' and it is the GREATEST FEELING ever!! I did my 35 years and knew it was time to retire and NOW I enjoy the fruits of my retirement. We travel around the USA in our RV and visit other police agencies and compare. I don't miss the job but I did miss my old friends and collegues.
Although it was the best job in the world and enjoyed it immensely I could tell the job had changed dramatically and I don't mean the laws and procedures as that was just a small portion of it. The commardarie and unity we USED TO HAVE is all but gone, our depts aren't backing us anymore, nothing but liability concerns and turning on one another.
It is so many things that have changed and taken the fun and adventure and true friendship that made the job worth living.
I PRAY that present officers can evolve into a tight group again and stand strong and powerful force to deal with. If you don't stand tall together the public and departments will eat you alive and you will never get what you need or deserve.
Take care and Be safe out there ALL !!
