Father's Day
I know a lot of you are dad's, but does anyone have special plans for their dad's this Saturday?
I'm leaving for Chicago Saturday, to go with my Dad and Brother to see my dad's most favorite, crappy team, the Cubs at Wrigley Field. So I'm suffering through the game for his Fathers' Day gift, there will be extreme people watching on my part that day, as baseball bores the shit out of me. lol.
Anyone else have any special plans for their daddies? lolThere’s a promise I need you to make
While I’m gone you take care of the love
And I’ll deal with the hate.
Don’t worry about me; I’ll be all right
Just care for your children and sleep tight
I’ll keep you safe on my watch tonight

Lucky me I get to work Father's Day and my parents are planning on coming up to do Father's Day and my birthday. Don't know what to get my dad if anything that he'll find useful it will have to be something to do with hunting or fishing *yawn*.

06-15-06, 11:39 AM #3How could you say such horrible things about the Cubs? I like the team and when the are loosing which is all the time I don't watch baseball either. Kinda boring. I love all of the Chicago Teams except the White Sox, am also not a big fan of any Illinois College Team, Notre Dame is my midwest (back home) team. But Since I went to USC, I like the Trojans more.

I am in NC. Pops is in NY. I may call him. Or perhaps I will send flowers. Perhaps not.
And Shepards we shall be,
for thee, My Lord, for thee,
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand,
That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy Command.
So we shall flow a river forth to Thee
And teeming with souls will it ever be.

I'll call my dad. Again. I called him last weekend after sending him an ecard, because my wife told me it was father's day. He laughed. So did my wife, since she was confused, but hadn't called her dad yet. So I look like the big dummy lol

I'm driving 5 hours with my hubby to get his two boys for at least a week.
5 people, 3 kids (ages 12, 13 & 14), 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, over my 5th anniversary. Oh, and I'm the Evil Stepmother.
I'll call my dad but won't inflict the kids on anyone not already either on prozac or in a coma.\\` ` ` ` < ` )___/\

My Dad is in a State Veteran's Home about 2 hours from my house. I have to work Sunday, my oldest daughter lives in Milwaukee, my youngest has to work and my wife will be exhibiting at an art show in Minneapolis, so I guess that for me, it's just another day.
For the morning will come. Brightly will it shine on the brave and true, kindly upon all who suffer for the cause, glorious upon the tombs of heroes. Thus will shine the dawn.

I'm not sure what I'm doing for my Dad, Step-Dad and grandfather's yet. With the size of the family I have it's usually not cheap. No plans for me that I know of. I'm trying to see if my wife will remember to do something.....

Not that I want sympathy, but my dad's dead and I have to work mids so I will be sleeping all day. I have a daughter so I may get up a bit early to spend some time with her.

06-16-06, 01:50 PM #13We're in the same boat, beans (my father passed on in '89). I don't need a special day to think about him; I think about him everyday. I will make it special for CopsRCool, though. The usual being his favorite dinner.

06-17-06, 12:14 AM #15I am truly sorry to hear this, beans. My father died of a heart attack (his second) on Valentines Day 1989 - he was just 49. Needless to say, VD is not a day of celebration for me. No doubt, the woman, wife, and mother that I am today is because of this one great man... I miss him terribly. While not your favorite holiday (it's difficult for me even after all these years), it can still be a good day. After all, you have your memories, and your children have you!

My two brothers and I took our dad '83' fly fishing for a few days last week for his dad day present. I will be spending the day with my son which I haven't been able to do for 10 years.
This will be a good day for me. I have to leave for Dallas mid week for a while so I need my son fix before I go. The little fella is 31, 6'3', 235 and I love to hang with him.
