Something for all
If find a nice comment, poem etc put it here. Heres one to start
Police Officers
Who are they?
They are the ones that watch over us,
They protect and serve,
The officer will say, we are just normal people that do a dangerous job
But they are more then that,
They are angels,
They put the lives on the line,
They are kind, caring people,
They always put others first, even if they could lose their live,
Their not selfish,
They may say the not special, but to us, they are so much more then special,
They are the ones that protect and sever,Last edited by Allstar; 06-19-06 at 07:02 PM.

Today I left for work,
I kissed my husband goodbye,
Never knowing if it will be my last,
But I don't mind or let it get me down,
I go to work, and put on my uniform,
Before I leave I take a deep breath and think whats today going to bring,
First call of the day,
A family problem,
I was the first to arrive,
But I quickly had to call for back up,
I anger father with a knife came at me,
I was scared to tell the truth,
Then I hear the sirens,
And I know my partners are coming to help,
They soon got him in handcuffs and away to prison,
I'm not sure what could have happened if my partners, friends didn't turn,
I would my boss be telling my husband I was dead,
Thats why I say a little prayer every night for them and my family,
east
west watch them why we watch the public.
Thank you

Doesn't anyone else get a little tired of all the self praise and self serving?

I'm really not trying to piss people off, but although being a cop is tough and dangerous, it's by far not the toughest nor the most dangerous.
Our egos should be strong enough that we don't need this kind of stroking to feel good about what we do. The most satisfying work I've done rarely got a comment from anybody. And the letters of commendation were for everyday stuff that meant nothing. If we can't get a feeling of accomplishment about our jobs without this, we need to look into some intense therapy.

Heres 2 of my favorites ....
============================== ========
Just A Cop
The funeral line was long,
There's an awful lot of cars,
Folks came out of the restaurants,
They came out of the bars.
The workers at the construction sites
All let their hammers drop.
Someone asked. "What is this all for?"
And they said, "Aw, just a cop."
Some chuckled at the passing cars.
Some shed a silent tear
Some people said, "It's stupid,"
"all these dumb policemen here."
"How come they are not out fighting crime?"
"Or in a doughnut shop?"
Sure is a lot of trouble,
For someone who's just a cop."
They blocked the intersections,
They blocked the interstate.
People yelled and cursed,
"Damn, it's gonna make me late!"
"This is really ridiculous!"
"They're makin' us all stop!"
"It seems they are sure wastin' time,
On someone who's just a cop."
Into the cemetery now,
The slow procession comes,
The woeful Taps are slowly played.
There's loud salutes from guns.
The graveyard workers shake their heads
"This service is a flop."
"There's lots of good words wasted,
On someone who's just a cop"
Yeah, just a cop to most folks.
Did his duty every day.
Trying to protect us,
Till they took his life away.
And when he got to heaven,
St. Peter put him at the top.
An angel asked him,
"Who was that?"
And he said, "Aw, just a cop."
============================== =========
Please do not judge them until you have walked a mile in their shoes.
These men and women you are so quick to abuse.
For behind the badge is a Father a Mother that has a family of their own,
they plan to return to when their duty is done.
They miss birthdays and holidays and the list goes on. Just to protect your wife your son.
The pay is bad the days are long and still they put the uniform on.
So think about it if you would, for just a moment if you could,
the horrors they face every day are the ones we pray never come our way.
They hold a child as he dies and comfort the mother as she cries.
And yet you complain about a speeding ticket you obtained.
Many have paid the ultimate price, giving up their life,
to Serve and Protect you and I.
So please get a clue and do not judge them until you have walked a mile in their shoes!

So, you don't like cops. Well, the next time someone's breaking in your house or kicking your ass, why don't you call a crackhead. Maybe they will help you.

I have always like this one... I read it when I get discouraged, but I don't know why. I guess it inspires me. Since I'm not a cop, no one can call it self-praising, can they?
Tears of a Cop
I have been where you fear to go...
I have seen what you fear to see...
I have done what you fear to do...
All these things I've done for you.
I'm the one you lean upon...
The one you cast your scorn upon...
The one you bring your troubles to...
All these people I've been for you...
The one you ask to stand apart...
The one you feel should have no heart...
The one you call the man in blue...
But I'm human just like you.
And through the years I've come to see...
That I'm not what you ask of me...
So take this badge and take this gun...
Will you take it? Will anyone?
And when you watch a person die...
And hear a battered baby cry...
Then so you think that you can be
All those things you ask of me...?
