Energy Drinks
OK, so I'm and old guy with a couple of jobs. Every now and then, about 4 hours into my second 8 hour shift, I could use a little boost. (legally!) What is anyone's experiance with drinks like "Red Bull" and the like? Are they any good, or is it all hype?

I think they taste horrible..I'd rather have a cup of coffee. They'll pick you up a little, but I don't think they do much more than coffee anyway. Amp tastes like mountain dew, so it's pretty good. But it's expensive.

I think they're disgusting. A guy I used to work with on mid's used to put red bull in his coffee.
I haven't tried the Monster energy drinks though... I know a few people who drink those.

Red Bull works for me.

I don't buy Red Bull. Too expensive and small can.
I live for Diet Rockstar. Tastes better than RB I think, and it's twice the size and costs less. Also, it's only 10 calories.
But, no matter what. If you drink those things, stay close to a restroom as they go through your system faster than beer (and you'll be pissing neon green)Alpha Phi Sigma Alum - Alpha Delta Chapter

I like Monster & Rockstar. I drank 2 of those one kept me up for about 4 hours extra, maybe more I had to piss really bad.
Just because your sign off after you're shift is done, doesn't mean that it's over and put blinders on. You're a cop 24/7 wether you like it or not. If thats something you can't handle, you should find a new line of work!

They are expensive, and when I've used them I tend to get the shakes and feel sorta sick. May be because I'm not a coffee drinker though.

See if you can find some Jolt.

Alternatively, in the diet pills section, there's Natural Green Tea extract, it's just about pure caffeine.Last edited by Ducky; 06-19-06 at 07:50 PM.

Don't know if it's available over there, but Lucozade Sport has been tested by Loughborough University and has been found to be the most effective energy drink on the market.

I like the Monster Drinks. They can really pick you up and it's not that "edgy" kind of pick me up. They also have a lot of vitamins.

I get all jumpy and hyper (more so than normal). I usually end up having to write a report after I drink them at work, so I tend to stay away from them, unless I feel like giving the supervisor a headache

All you lucky people get coffee and energy drinks in the morning.....

What's it like?

Good, bad, studies...you guys are putting too much thought into this. What are ya looking to get out of 'em? If it is just the caffeine affect, then stick with what ya like, coffee or soda. If you are looking for a few extra vitamins and the caffeine, go with an energy drink or CVS/GNC and coffee/soda. Adrenaline from SoBe is what I drink if I am feeling tempermental and tired. Seems to bring me back up and mellow me out a little. Different strokes for different folks.

Thank for the info. I think I'll give the "5-hour Energy" a shot. I tried "Red Bull," but it didn't seem to do much and the taste was horrible.

Because it messes up the inside of my ears. I know that sounds absurd, but it's true. Doc said to stop drinking it, so I have.
