Ncic
Our head dispatcher I believe smokes crack. There has been a rumor at my dept for along time about NCIC Charging the dept because we ran so many tags.
Now, I know that is complete bull crap, but i cant find any documentation that really clarifies my point of NCIC NOT charging. I'd like to find something that completely burns that stupid rumor to the ground.

I have heard something about this. I am not sure, but will talk to are dipsnatchers and find.

If your enemy is secure at all points, be prepared for him. If he is in superior strength, evade him. If your opponent is temperamental, seek to irritate him. Pretend to be weak, that he may grow arrogant. If he is taking his ease, give him no rest. If his forces are united, separate them. If sovereign and subject are in accord, put division between them. Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected.

There is some sort of subscriber/user fee based on the number of transactions performed.
I would have thought tags are through your state DMV though.Molly Weasley makes Chuck Norris eat his vegetables.

Tags go through DMV, the stolen or wanted tags (10-29 for us) goes through NCIC. We do have a charge for each NCIC terminal/console, but not cost per what is run.
Any Post I make is my opinion only!

So if a dept runs "X" amount of 10-29 checks, then they may get charged?
I was thinking Local Tags went through the State DMV, I dont know anything about dispatching.....but i would imagine places like LAPD and dallas PD run more tags in a day then we do in a month.....

06-28-06, 07:39 AM #7Only time a tag goes through NCIC is if your cecking for wants or warants other wise it goes through DMV / RMV or what ever its called in your area. I do belive it is a flat fee that FBI charges to access their data. Some departments are not even connected because they don't want to pay for it.

I think it works like the IRS - a certain number of requests bumps you into the next bracket.

I never heard of NCIC being charged for each hit. Ive heard of something else that the State of Nevada looks into and checks to see randomly why someone was ran, But that is through another system

Inquiries are simultaneously sent around here to the following:
NCIC
TCIC
TLETS (region warrants)
DPS MVD
In that order. My department pays for one wired TLETS terminal which has access to TCIC/NCIC.
Then there are our MDC's which run off of a wireless server in Austin.
How much is it? Who TF knows?
