    Post H2 Fire Hazard!

I wasn't sure where to post this so I put it here.

This is video of a very minor accident with a very serious outcome.

Both the Benz and the H2 are owned by the owners of a local night spot. The driver of the Benz was getting ready to leave work and looked down for a second as he stepped on the clutch in his car which caused it to larch forward about 2 feet striking his partners H2 in the rear end.

He got out of the car and examined the damage and then reentered the club to tell his partner what happened. As they both exited the club they found both vehicles on fire!

Providence Fire had a hard time putting out the fire as the fuel tank on the H2 had been ruptured in the collision; if you want to call it a collision, and the leaking fuel was feeding the fire. PFD had to resort to the use of FOAM to put out the vehicles.

This happened while the H2 was parked and thank fully unoccupied. The results could have been devastating if this had happened in a high speed collision; such as on the highway, because the tank could have exploded and most certainly killed all the passengers!

There was no sign of arson according to the Fire Inspector whom I spoke with after filming this incident.

I ain't telling all my wanna be thugs that want H2's about this. But I may need a new patrol car soon.
    And Shepards we shall be,
for thee, My Lord, for thee,
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand,
That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy Command.
So we shall flow a river forth to Thee
And teeming with souls will it ever be.

Is it me or does it look like the Benz had caught most of the fire? Definately more to the story, I think...

So, what your saying here, is the H2 is really a Pinto?

Although I will say this and many of the local LEO's will back me up on it too. I have an EARSE button on my camera and know how to use it! I would never air anything that would hurt an Officer or Department. Lord knows there has been many times the camer has caught something it should not have but it never left the camera. This is one of the reasons I have a great report with many of hte LEOs in the area I cover. And if it's something like a "D" failing the test; a major incident where as the badguy resists I always provide a copy of it to the PD. Especially if its a FATAL MVA. The video has helped them quite a few times!

Don't forget the Benz run under the back of the H2 rupturing the fuel tank which in turn ran down onto and pooled under the car.

Oh and this is not the only H2 that I have filmed or heard of bursting into flames after a rear ender.

So, is this an actual fire hazard that all H2's have, or just an accident?
