Zap!!!!!
I got tazed, and all I got was a stupid patch and pin.
Where's the t-shirt that says "I got tazed by Tazer Int'l and all I got was this stupid shirt"?
Oh, and by the way, it hurt like a
, and yes, I screamed like a little girl.
I took "the ride" a full five seconds that felt like 10 minutes.
X26's nice. Wish my department would actually let us all have one though.
Oh well, i'm certified if they ever change their minds
Video is available for sale for $25 on VHS, $35 on DVD.
I threw out my back afterward getting in my car to go home, had a bad muscle cramp in my back that made it painful to do anything the rest of the day... Slept it off, thankfully.
Note to others, it's not a good idea to get tazed or maced right before your wedding and honeymoon, I really pissed the miss' off good, especially considering it was elected, not required for me to go through the training.

What? OH....

btw....taser certs are only good for a year. Also, you might find as I did....some agencies will not accept them unless THEIR taser instructor puts you though the training.

I wanted to ask what I had to do for a tshirt, but after the 5 seconds, I was only interested in going home.

Oh, believe me, my dept. will take it. They have to. I swear i'll shoot the next person who tazes me. once was enough. I was tazed by an authorized tazer instructor, and have the video too. No way in hell i'd go through that again!!!Last edited by Radar; 07-24-06 at 05:02 PM.

Be thankful for the patch and pin. All I got was the instructor standing there laughing his ass off while I flopped around like a fish. I did get the DVD, so I can prove to my department I got hit. You're right, it does hurt like hell.

We got to chose too take the full ride fir a Pin, or just take a good 1 second zap. When the class started, I was all gung ho to take the ride. After watching other people take it, I changed my mind. Uhhh, no thanks, a pins not worth that. And considering how long that one second zap felt, glad I chose option two :P
We get to thank dope dealers for the fact every deputy has an X26 (myself included). We seized a mint condition 69 Mustang for hauling dope, and auctioned it off for the money that bought the tasers.
Havn't gotten to use it on anyone yet. Every time I point it at someone, they back down. The one times I've shot it was while chasing a guy, and I missed. Those things are damn hard to aim while running full speed. Did catch the f

What's the training purpose of getting Tazed, anyway?
As Zap says, you don't have to get shot to carry a gun.
I guess being Pepper Sprayed seems to make a lot more sense, since you're likely to get some on yourself while applying it to other people, and you need to know how it's gonna feel and what to do about it - But how often do you taze yourself? - And there ain't NOTHING you can do about it except try to roll & pull the probes out, I guess!Last edited by TXCharlie; 07-24-06 at 08:23 PM.

Well, it's got several reasons Charlie, the fact that Tazer keeps having lawsuits, for every ACLU lawsuit alledging the tazer is dangerous, there are at least 200-300 people who willingly, or by department policy, were zapped without major incident (and yes, i know about the leo who's suing). Also, you can say first hand, hey man, i've been zapped myself, you don't want this, why don't you play nice? And If they whine and cry after, you can tell 'em, hey, i've been zapped too, at least I tazed you. Imagine if this had escalated any farther and I had to shoot and kill your dumb ass instead.
Also, it gives leos the opportunity to know, first hand, it's power, and (the good officers) know not to over use the tazer excessively, cause we know just how it feels.
