I'm in... but not really...
Currently I am applying with two departments (North Las Vegas and Vegas Metro.)
I got the call today to come in and get my packet as an alternate for North Las Vegas. What I come to find out is that they are hiring 28 officers and I am number 30 on their list. However, not all backgrounds, polys, medicals and psych tests are finished so if two of those 28 drop/don't pass/dont accept I am in.
I should find out either way by mid August.
Not sure what to make of this one....Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft. -

I'd say your in a pretty good spot.
I recall a local dept by me, had 12 backgrounds out for 2 positions.....10 people didn't even turn their backgrounds in.

Alot of people get intimidated by the whole BI packet, and they don't turn it in, or they turn it in late, or the people that were supposed to reply to requests for background don't reply.
Which reminds me - give a heads up to all of your references that they will be getting something from the department, and make sure they know to reply ASAP.Molly Weasley makes Chuck Norris eat his vegetables.

Just be patient large angenies like that generally have a hiring several times a year. If you don't get hired right now you will stay on the active account with them and when they start hiring again you will be one of the first ones that they contact.
