I think I'd shoot for something simplier. It's just my opinion, but that would make a better tattoo than a logo. It's cool, but from a citizen's point of view, I dunno....

I agree. I can tell it's anti-gang -- but that's all. Is it a state gang investigation unit, or what? It's also probably a tad militant... Likely to offend the public...

(Then again... I loved the Special Homicide Investigation Team that one agency almost created until someone observed the acronym...)

How bout the tradtional circle/5 point star (ala Texas Rangers) with the state of Texas around the circle gangs in the center with a line thru it with the flames or sword. Simple but clear and to the point.
