Sheriff Joe
I think that LE should have a LE National commander and therefore I would want Sheriff Joe Arpaio
Reasons Why
Pink Underwear
Inmates were stealing jail issued underwear, so Sheriff Joe dyed them pink.
Tent City
To save the taxpayer's money, Sheriff Joe put the prisoners in tents.
Chain Gangs
Sheriff Joe returned prisoners to the chain gangs.
Return to Black and White Stripes
Improving security at our county jails
Arpaio doesn't believe in coddling criminals, frequently saying that jails should not be country clubs. He banned smoking, coffee, pornographic magazines, movies and unrestricted television in all jails. He has the cheapest meals in the country too. The average inmate meal costs under 20 cents.
I think LE needs tougher people running things and enough with the liberal we care ideas

i wish more would take this attitude...
really dohttp://www.allpoetry.com/Grunts%20Girl
We dallied under
Vine maples and sapling alders
Searched for lady slippers
But instead
Found blackberry riots and
Desiccated branches
An old skid road
Brought ghost ferns and
Hollows filled with
Skunk cabbage
While waves wrapped
Intricate lacings of weeds
'Round mule spinners
His cyanotic eyes
Were hard enough to make
The sun turn tail and
Tender enough to attract me
To his world of illusion

I read his book a few years ago, and he makes the point that most inmates have better living conditions than our troops overseas. I wish we had more like him in every county in every state.
For the morning will come. Brightly will it shine on the brave and true, kindly upon all who suffer for the cause, glorious upon the tombs of heroes. Thus will shine the dawn.

I cannot endorse this thread. Sheriff Joe has gained national popularity for his media friendly pink underwear and public "tough guy" attitude. But he is as untrustworthy as any politician, and I shall explain why. As a AZ Deputy, I have some good grounding in this.
In 2002, a liberal Democrat named Janet Napolitano ran for AZ Governor. Janet ran on a moderate platform, even though her past record as AZ Attorney General showed her to be a soft on crime liberal.
Well, Sheriff Joe, as a tough on Crime Conservative Republican, should have wanted nothing to do with her. But, my friends, Sheriff Joe very loudly endorsed Ms. Napolitano in 2002. His support is credited and giving Janet her "tough on crime" image and swaying enough Conservative/ Moderate voters to give her a narrow victory over Republican Matt Salmon.
Why would Joe do this? Its simple, in her tanure as AZ Attorney General,
Janet refused to file or publicly address a number of lawsuits against the Maricopa County Sheriffs Office and Joe himself. Many things were sweapt under the rug. Whether they were ligitimate or not, it doens't change the obvious "Quid Pro Quo" support given to Napolitano by Joe.
In her tanure as Governor, Napolitano has vetoed more bills (sent to her by the Republican Legislature) than any Governor in AZ History, surpasing Democrat Bruce Babbit. However, it took Babbitt two terms to set the old record, Janet has only had ONE term so far. These include tough anti illegal immigration bills. Yeah, thanks Joe.
Joe Arpaio is a media darling who does things to get himself attention. But when it comes down to it, he stabbed all Arizonians in the back by helping elect a Governor who is against every standpoint that Joe's is "supposed" to be for. Yeah, tough on crime my ass. I'm sorry, I'll pass on Joe, he already betrayed us once.
