Nite Done Got Jumped!
I went to court today for a plea deal on a felony assault. Four dudes jumped some dude with baseball bats and kicked the s*** out of him. I figure this is gonna be a quick in and out deal. WRONG! They ALL wanted a prelim and the judge did a foursome. I sat and got grilled by FOUR different defense attorneys for two freakin' hours. That was brutal. All four got bound over to district court, but I really feel mentally raped at this point. Dear God, what part of PEACE OFFICER does the genre of lawyerdom not understand? I'm spent.

One of the scumbags tried to discredit my witness by saying that she is a known drug user, a known dui and dus violator and I punked him by saying, "I'm a night shift cop and that makes up for about 99% of the people I encounter. Your point being.............?" He said, "No further questions." Whatta D-Bag! The entire courtroom laughed.

Give back what you are given. Long as all the ducks are where they are supposed to be, you did your job. Screw them and their job.
And Shepards we shall be,
for thee, My Lord, for thee,
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand,
That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy Command.
So we shall flow a river forth to Thee
And teeming with souls will it ever be.

Hopefully you were there on O/T. If you have to go through that kind of crap, at least you get paid well.
I've had my eyesight challenged, my memory challenged, my knowledge of the law and ability to identify the elements of the offense, etc.
One defense attorney really tried to beat me up; after court, he invited me to lunch. I keep in mind that nothing is really personal, it's just the job they do.'The Art of War' teaches us to "Rely not on the likelihood of the enemy's coming, but on our own readiness to receive him"--Sun Tsu

I hate defense attorneys too! I was in court all day yesterday and today again on a kid who ran from me. He wouldn't talk to the defense attorney so she didn't feel right prosecuting him, so they released him to his aunt and then he threw a hissy fit and ran from her house last night, then ran from the cops, threw a stick at them. So thats why we were all back in court today, well then they continued it until monday because he still wont talk!!! But this time they are keeping him in juvy!!
It is better to be tried by 12, than carried by 6.

Oh you're G-D right I was on OT. We get a MINIMUM of two hours OT when we go to court or get called out for an emergency when we are off duty. I'm thinking though, since they did a value-pack and crunched four prelims into one head-exploding session.............should I count that as four different prelims and claim EIGHT hours OT? Hmmmmmmmmmm. Let's see if it flies. The Captain does the time sheets and he loves me. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!

I once hooked a dirtbag up for Assault 4 (domestic violence), Resisting Arrest and Disorderly Conduct. Well he was on probation for some other offenses so we had to have a PC hearing so the court could revoke his probation. The girl that he was kicking the hell out of was in court and back in love with said dirtbag.
His attorney was a brand new PD who fancied himself a regular ol' Matlock.
But unfortunately for him it wasn't my first rodeo. During his cross of me he asked "Officer in the state of KY isn't one of the elements of DV visible marks on the victim?" To which I replied, "Yes." Attorney: "Well did you observe any marks on the victim?" Me: "No." Attorney: Really, well Officer what did you observe?" Me: "Counselor I observed your client dragging the victim down the sidewalk by her hair." Judge: "I think we've heard enough here, probation revoked, remand the defendant back into custody."
I hate attorneys who automatically think they are smarter than you.Last edited by theWatch; 08-23-06 at 06:46 PM.

Gee and lawyer wonder why they are so disliked.
What is that joke? There was a shipwreck....10 people were left alive swimming in the ocean and the sharks were circling and circling. They were picked off one by one until finally one was left....the lawyer. Because sharks will never eat one of their own.

Sorry for the trauma P-Puppy and Texas Chuck. But honestly, a full-scale ass whoopin' would've been less painful. Best part is I ran a D&Q on all the dirtbag attorneys involved in my emotional molestation and I NOW KNOW WHAT THEY DRIVE! Worst freakin' nightmare in the world for anyone who jacks with a road dawg! Better watch those California stops, mister "Public Pretender"! Check my sig if you don't know what I mean!
