Help!! Eek!!
Ok, at work I definetely pulled an "oh SHIT!" today I was getting the boat up on the trailer, bent over forgot the cell phone was in the pocket and it plopped into the lake. We were at the launch so I could grab it but not before the damage had been done. I took the battery right out after it happened and took the blow dryer to it when I got home its lighting up but the screen is shit.
Anyone ever do this? Any luck getting it alive again??There’s a promise I need you to make

It happened to me once when I had one of the die hard nokia phones.
You could run those over w/ a dump truck and they'd still work.
I dropped mine when it was DOWN POURING, and it completely broke into a million pieces in a puddle. I was like "AHHH!!!"
I brought it inside, let it air dry on a towel, put it back together, and you'd have never known it went for a dip a day earlier.
Sounds like your phone is fucked though....haha...that sucks.

You may try rinsing it very well in pure distilled water (not drinking water) and leaving it in a hot car for a few days out of the sun to evaporate all the moisture... Distilled water rinses out the salts that corrode things up and cause shorts, but you have to do it very quickly - it may be too late at this point.
However, the best bet would be to take it back to the store and ask for a free replacement - They may jiggle you up and only charge you 20 bucks or something. Casually mentioning you destroyed on lake patrol may make them more sympathetic - Worth a try.

I once dropped my phone in the toilet.
Yup, that's right, the toilet.
The crapper.
The poop disposal unit.
The Super Bowl.
The Porcelain Throne.
Thank you, I'll be here all week.
I was very displeased with myself. Without thinking, I went out and bought a new phone, because just like you, the phone would sort of start up and then shut itself off.
A few months later, after the phone had some significant drying time, I tried it again and it worked just fine.
Word of advice. Don't drop your phone in the crapper.

Well I put the battery back in and it turned on and I was actually able to make a call!! It went really slow though, so I took it apart again and am going to let it dry some more. Hopefully, cross fingers, it will work again.

I was working off-duty at a water park a few weeks back. I went into a huge wave pool to help out a 4 year old kid who bit it and knocked out his two front teeth. When the wave machine isn't in, the outlying shallow area is dry and isn't submerged. Well, long story short, I was kneeling and trying to get the little guy calmed down, when all the sudden the wave starts coming in. I'm like uhhh, shit. Long story short, I was up to my knees/waist in water. My PDA was in my cargo pocket and is now fried. The park won't pay for it, because I am on "city-time" (the city pays me as I am responsible for handling all calls for service in the park, writing muni summonses, etc). The park then reimburses the city for my overtime rate. The city won't pay for it because they say I was doing "park-related" duties, essentially the function of a park lifeguard. Oh, I'm sorry, I thought the first duty of LE was protection of LIFE! Oh well.

Ok, well as of today my entire phone is in good working order EXCEPT the ringer doesn't work. So ya it might as well not work at all because thats a bit of a vital feature.
As far as a new phone goes, I've tried in the past with my provider to use a phone that they don't provide, because at the time I didn't like their styles. They said that it couldn't happen because of the phone not being programmed to my local area network and that for it to work I would have to get a Cellular One programmed phone and one that is from my network in order for it to work. Otherwise it wouldn't be possible to happen. Whatever that means. There’s a promise I need you to make

Give it a couple more days of thorough drying. It might end up working. You'd be surprised. I've done the very same thing. One feature after another ends up working.
