Just wanted to give everyone an FYI.

I love my job.

And LEF is great for me, being a rookie and all. It's nice having a big network of LEO's and non-LEO's to ask advice, questions, and have shop talk.

I feel lonely without the voices. They sometimes change several times during the shift so it feels like I have been talking to multiple voices. They check on me whenever I'm out. I sometimes feel the need to talk to them when I don't hear them for a while, or when I'm at home doing nothing, like now..

I love getting information on new stuff that is out or new laws or problems before anyone else does in my area. I have been pushing the forum to all the guys around because of how much I get from this place. Big bonus in my opinion.

I have been home and sworn I could hear dispatch talking when the radio was off and in the charger across the house. Is that bad?

When I first started in Law Enforcement, I actually had a dream where dispatch kept calling me. I woke up, and I could still hear them. I got up and I started freaking out. It turns out I didn't turn my radio completely off when I put it in my charger. Now that the years have passed, I know which voices are real and which one's are in my head.

Wow it's so nice to know I'm not the only one who hears the voices and does what they tell me to do.

But, does anyone else feel bad when the voice tells you to go get someone and take them to a doctor for evaluation when they too hear voices and do what they say??

Yes, but it is perfectly normal ( I think ). I know exactly what you are talking about.

Have you ever tried to reach for your shoulder mic to call something in, but you are in your civies on your day off? I have.

I saw a fight once as I was walking in the mall. I reached for my prep mic to call out my location as I ran over there, then I realized I had no prep and I was off duty. I backed off and let the mall ninjas handle it.

I've tried to call stuff in off duty with my non-existant radio. Doesn't work as planned.

LOL. Done that too. been a couple of times someone has pissed me off in traffic, and I reach down for my airhorn or light switches to pull them over.. in my POV.

Oh, yeah, I've done that, too. I'm also guilty of reaching for my radio mic while off duty.
