    Sport Pilot

I am just wondering if anyone here is a sport pilot. I know that the FAA recently added this new license class and I want to find any good forums, list-servers, or other websites related to this.

If you're really interested in flying go the extra distance and get your private license, too many restrictions with the sport pilot. I would even recommend the instrutment rating for the added safety.

I'd agree with this... I'm a Private Pilot/Instrument rated ASEL. Sport pilot training seems too restrictive to me too. The training for the private was plenty of fun, though I found the flying for the instrument rating a bit boring at times (though I think it did make me a better pilot, and it certainly opens up another world of flying).

Be safe though, I've known more people personally who have died in small planes than I do who died in law enforcement. Get a good instructor!

(gee, this motivates me... I've been too busy to stay current lately... I need to go do some flying).

Amen. I worked my way through the private, inst, commerial and finally CFI. I actually learned more working on my CFI as it puts everything together plus pushed you to the limit if you have a good instructor.
