The Things I Do for Min. Wage.
*start rant*
Directing traffic in 20mph blowing snow, in a four way intersection, alone, with one road blocked off in a highlighter fluroscent vest with a white car that doesn't have pretty lights on the top and a bunch of stupid college kids trying to get to their parties SUCKS MAJOR ASS.
*end rant*There’s a promise I need you to make
While I’m gone you take care of the love
And I’ll deal with the hate.
Don’t worry about me; I’ll be all right
Just care for your children and sleep tight
I’ll keep you safe on my watch tonight

Cleaning toilets was my college job.

It started out as resident theatre technician, but the powers that be decided to save money and have us also take over building maintenance as well.
And those toilets sparkled by gum!

Well, mine has a lot of impact on a lot of people's lives. Thousands of people are affected by me everyday...they just don't knowit directly. Every card I print affects everyone involved with that occasion in some way. It's just a tedious job that pisses me off something awful (presses are old and stupid!)
Life is a succession of lessons which must be lived to be understood.

Ya, its better than most jobs, but last night I would have glady taken the toliets. It sucked major ass, I seriously thought I was in hell and was going to be stuck wearing the ugly, flurescent safety vest for enternity.

I feel for you Autumn, just always remember there's people at South Dakota State Univ. suffering just like you.

Well in lovely Vancouver Canada it was a still shorts and suntan weather..
It only snows here a couple times a year, for a grand total of about 2 inches.

Can I get a woot woot?
Well this weekend has been crazily hectic, but anyways last night @ work (student foot patrol for those that don't know) my partner and I were involved in our very first foot pursuit, not only where we involved in one but another one later in the night, both leading to arrests. Pretty much unheard of in our montonous job of wandering around campus in our fluroscent vests, but we managed it and it was pretty kick ass.
Ahh the feeling of ruining someones life.
Just wanted to share we were excited.

Autumn: I don't know what your aspirations are, but if you're considering becoming a full-grown road cop consider this: I carry a cooler with candy bars, sandwiches and beeny-weenies in it as well as a thermos of hot coffee in my car in the winter. Why? Of course you have to consider that this may not apply to our southern friends in warmer climates, but: I once spent SEVEN hours in the middle of the night on a two-semi head-on collission in a blizzard. It dropped eight inches on us in three hours with fifty mile per hour winds and all the other cops were begging for my food (the same ones who USED to poke fun at me for my cooler!)
You also should check out AccuWeather before you go on duty and also wearing full sweats under an extra-large uniform is sweet in a blizzard (just be sure not to kick the heat up in the patrol car or you will roast!)
Anyway, I feel your pain and I have a thousand stories to learn from and a thousand suggestions for all security/cop personnel in the cold, but I will give it a rest. Hope a little of that helped.
Take a hot shower and pile on the blankies, honey! Happy winter-time!
