Is your state red or blue?
Did the electoral votes of the state in which you currently reside go to Bush (red) or Kerry (blue) in 2004? Not your own personal vote; just your state's vote. If you're an American currently living abroad, answer about the state in whose elections you currently vote.

I'm in Texas - Duhhh. Figure it out

And I bet our President doesn't abandon his home state after his term is up, looking for the only place that would elect his wife (like Slick Willie did) - Texas would elect Laura Bush to just about any office she wanted.
From all I've read, that was strictly an invention of the News Media, starting in the 2000 elections. Before that the Republicans were blue, and I think are still blue in government publications.
Here's one article on it:

Despite rumors that suggest otherwise, I think California has equal parts blue and red - I guess that makes us purple.

Our problem is people don't vote!

States
After thinking about it a bit, we have the RED states and BLUE states. Without being banned
, lynched, vilified, spit at, cursed at, ambushed, and other vile things being done to me , I ask: Where are the White States?

My state was sadly blue. Even with all the farmers and republican voters in MN, the Cities is predominantly blue...leaving all us small town red-ers lone supporters for Bush.

Can I take back my vote? I'm from a red state, and am merely living abroad in the People's District of Columbia.

WARNING Contraversal
Quite right. And were is the support from the Blue States? If everyone was behind GWB 100% (regardless of feelings) that crap in Iraq could be over by now. Why should the terrosts and insurgents quit, they get moral support from the Democratic Party (vice Lieberman) and the rest of the left-coast liberals. IF they would be behind this battle for our civilization as we all did with FDR and HST, maybe our boys and girls would be home a lot sooner.

I agree with you PDawg, now just the Democrats to believe the same thing and we would be a lot better off. I've never seen the politics swing so far to the left that their hate dictates their policy.

Well, the first thing that needs to happen is separate "party leader" rhetoric from the way the actual voters feel.
I recently saw Lou Dobbs comment on the gap between how voters feel, and how party leaders act. The discord created drives people away from the polls, and keeps people from really talking about the issues.
This is not just a Democratic issue - the Republicans are just as guilty.
President Reagan wanted the line-item veto - it was a major goal during his tenure in office. When it finally made it through the process, it was the Republicans that fought to over-turn it because it happened while Clinton was in office. That's cutting off your nose to spite your face.
We recently had a thread asking who you would vote for - there were some who simply could not resist telling others they were idiots for their choice. I see that as part of the problem as well. How can someone support any elected official if their supporters vilified them during the election process?
We talk about "the big picture" at work all the time. And the concerns of our nation involve a very big picture. I know that belonging to a society involves give and take. Everyone has the right to make requests of their government, but they need to accept that they may not always get what they want.Molly Weasley makes Chuck Norris eat his vegetables.
