The Easiest Job In The World.

What is your vote for the easiest job in the world?

Here's mine:

1) Meteorologist, aka Weatherman! You get paid six figures (if you're on a major network) and you can never be wrong or get fired! "Whoops. Sorry, the jet stream moved to the north at the last minute. That shit's not my fault, man!"

2) Ambassador to Canada: When the fuck was the last time that the USA had a beef with our seal-beating friends to the north?!?! Like, NEVER! That's what ambassadors do, resolve conflicts. Once again, six figures for basically doing NOTHING!!!!

3) Second in command in ANY law enforcement Agency: Granted, some larger agencies pose very imposing challenges to their second in command. But for the most part (especially smaller departments) that person gets fifty or sixty grand a year for doing NUTHING! Am I right?

Chime in, I would like to hear yours.......................

Disclaimer: Note that I said "easiest" job. For those of you are getting riled, I respect your jobs and you should absolutely get that fat paycheck for being a lazy slug.......however, I do not need to approve of it! Same page yet?!?!

I am with you except for 3. I would change it for the Sheriff of any county. They don't actually do jack squat except campaign, the undersheriff handles all the real work.

Okay, ya got me on the Sheriff thing (in larger jurisdictions). In my experience here, I have worked for two different SO's and the sheriff went out and did patrol work, whereas the Chief Deputy (Undersheriff) stayed in the office and worked on payroll and budget! Sorry if I offended your UnderSheriff! Peace!

I can't mean-mouth any full-time FED LEO. But I did work part-time for the USM as a contract guard/prisoner transport/court security. That was the shit! High-dollar hotels/Restaraunts/Expense accounts PLUS $25 per hour for basically babysitting some freak who couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag! That was nice beer money!

How about being a CONGRESSMAN? You get six figures and all expenses paid BY MY TAX DOLLARS for sending nasty E-mails to teens, running a bordello from your basement, talking shit about your enemies and all the while re-writing the constitution to suit your needs and expecting me to not only vote for you, but raising my taxes to pay for more of your bullshit!?!?! Maybe I answered my own question regarding the easiest job in the world...............

How about a DOT employee. It takes six to do one person's job. Five will be leaning on a shovel watching one work. Ok, I know DOT folks are important and don't get paid very well, but take a look at them at work sometime. I would kill someone if I had to work with them.

I agree about the Congressmen thing, they also get one hell of a pension. And what about the ability to vote for your own raise!!!

I don't think the jobs of Congressional representatives, ambassadors (even to Canada), Sheriffs, or anyone else who holds elected or politically appointed office are easy at all--they have no job security and have to behave carefully at all times to avoid bad publicity--they can't even send lusty gay-flirting e-mails to underage interns without it making the papers.

And they have to always be doing sleazy things to campaign for office or kiss up to whoever appoints them to office.

The easiest job in the world, I think, is that of a security guard at a professional building--the one whose job it is to sit at the front desk, occasionally answer questions or walk around the building to make everyone feel "safer", call the police if someone gets rowdy (which almost never happens) or an ambulance if someone drops dead, and read or stare into space the rest of the time. I used to have jobs like that in college--I was amazed that I could get paid to sit and study.

I totally agree with the weatherman vote. Seems like all their job consists of is watching radar screens and looking out the window every few minutes!

However, our DOT workers here actually do a lot. They even assist police departments with accidents sometimes. (By assisting, I mean pulling up behind the scene in their trucks and turning on their brand new L.E.D. lightbars to block traffic or shut down lanes...)

Jenna, I mean nothing bad by this but seriously....WTF is it that you do for a living and why do you never get angry about anything? I have posted a lot of threads trying to get people to have heated debate, voice their anger at the establishment and just generally get pissed off. Flaming emotion of one kind or another is what makes this country great. Nothing from you. Nothing. Are you a domestic violence mediator, do you work for PETA, the ACLU, the
