What do y'all think about female police officers? I personally love them, but I can tell you that around these parts in western Nebraska that they are not very welcome. The problem is that there is mostly old guys in administration who think that the ladies cannot fight on the street. I am a DT instructor and I can tell you from experience that the lady cops are much more frightening than the guys. What do you think and what are your experiences?

My experience tells me that not all of have to fight!!! I know the female officers in my department handle calls just as good as everyone else...i guess it all comes down to trusting the hiring process!

As a female officer for a large dept I have to say that many times I am able to communicate with someone and end up in no fight at all. Local known crazy's always just get in the car for me, but for the male officers it is a huge struggle.

I have had my fights. They were ugly but the secret is for me- that I dont fight fair. I will rip someones eyeball out in a second. DT that I learned in training and all the other training courses that I have taken for ground fighting are good for me because I can stay calm and relaxed in a fight. I can take the situation and think of where his weakness is and nail it.

I guess as a female officer I have proven myself with my station. I have jumped into some nasty fights with another male officer and we got control. I guess in a way I have earned their respect because they have told me so... and now sort of joke that 'you dont want to get into a fight with ...' lol...

There are females that I work with that I dont respect at all and god forbid they ever have to back me up... however there are male officers that I feel the same way about.

We all have our strengths and weakness' - this job is all about being able to execute our strengths and build our weakness' not hide from them... or avoid something because of it.

I always tell the new females that I train to take ALL the ground fighting classes that our dept offers... I show them sometimes how to use their hips because we are strong there and some pressure points as well... and above all... fight like a fu**ing devil. But most of all use the power of your words and manipulation to avoid a fight completely.

There are still some older guys on our dept that will feel how they will feel. That is ok with me. I understand how they feel and dont think of them any less.

I personally just LOVE the lady cops! Damn! On a serious note, it's nice to have them around for that "maternal" thing when they talk a bad guy down. Guys cannot do that. You ladies know what I'm talking about! Lots of Love, Lady Cops! The Stokker is with you!

i've worked with a couple of good female officers and some that were as worthless as a screendoor in a submarine. but the same goes for male officers.
i do find myself a little overprotective of female officers though. i think that it is the southern in me.

I work in a small dept and have no female road Officers. I wished we did. I think female Officers are great for the profession.

I like the idea, but in my department we have never had a good female officer. Ask Brad, he will tell you about the dumb bitch we had in our department. We have a female now that started with us almost a year ago and did fine at first, but now she has hooked up with some guy and she is only worried about getting cock. She calls in sick all the time. She came in with a note about hurting her back after falling off a ladder and she was out for three weeks. She was back a week and then come in with a note from the doctor saying she has a torn ligament in her ankle. Now she is out for a month or more. We do have a female Sgt. that does pretty well. She was a marine and I think if she could survive that, she could survive anything. I never really worked around her but Brad has. He could probably shed more light on that matter.

I think that is almost natural.

The lack of standards in my agency skews my view a little because most of the females we work with are an average of 6 inches shorter and 100 lbs heavier than I am; I am not real tall and I am not thin by any means. With that said, there are many weak and or worthless males in my agency too, just ask bigD and fscf3801 - they know who I am talking about.

Over the years, I have worked with some really good and some really bad female officers. The bad ones, just as bad male cops, should be shit canned. The good ones, IMHO, I would take as back up without hesitation. I have seen some lady cops whoop some ass when they need to. Plus, as a general rule, they look and smell so much better.

I agree with all the responses here. I have met some bad-ass female cops who can definitely hold their own. There are many worthless male cops too. I believe female officers are a great asset and in total support of them doing this job!

We have some females I'd prefer as a back up over some male officers. And I don't mean this because they are big, hairy or anything else. They are just that much better. We have some guys that would fold the first time they were really hit. Of course we've had the females who try and get off the street as soon as they finish the academy. Everyone goes straight to patrol after the academy. Overall there are good and bad ones just like anything else.
