The man who will go where his colors go, without asking who will fight a phantom foe in the jungle and mountain range, without counting, and who will suffer and die in the midst of incredible hardship, without complaint, is still what he has always been, from Imperial Rome to sceptered Britain to democratic America. He is the stuff of which legions are made. ...His pride is in his colors and his regiment, his training hard and thorough and coldly realistic, to fit him for what he must face...and his obedience is to his orders. He has been called United State Marine.

Version # 2 of the BOREALIS is the one with the cadillac battery carrier.
Although I want Borealis #3. I just can't afford it yet, and my department won't let me carry metal flashlights. But it'd make one heck of a home defense/hunting/walk the dog light.

I like the performance specs of these lights.
"Unlike other rechargeable police flashlights, the Borealis works on a 12-volt system of high current NiMH batteries, which are needed to handle the almost three and a half amps demanded from the bulb. To cope with the increased heat, the switch has been highly modified and has an aluminum bay with a ceramic bi-pin bulb holder."

At Black Bear Flashlights, we believe that with power comes responsibility. Because of the sheer power of our lights, we
encourage safe and responsible usage. Never leave your light turned on and unattended for long periods of time. DO
NOT look directly into the beam of your light. The Borealis is suitable for illumination through heavily tinted automotive
windows, in huge indoor structures, and for hundreds of yards outdoors"Sometimes people need a little help. Sometimes people need to be forgiven. And sometimes they need to go to jail."

In keeping with the Black Bear tradition of customization, we offer a choice of 4 reflector types to fit any field illumination requirement. Use the Reflector Selector menu to illustrate the reflector type that is exactly right for your task.

"Using high powered Lithium Ion batteries, the Bear Cub produces a much flatter rate of discharge and the light is a constant brightness throughout the run cycle.
If you need more than the one hour and a half hours of runtime in the field, you can carry two spare Lithium Ion batteries. They are small and lightweight."

Dear reader,
Battery University is an on-line resource that provides practical battery knowledge for engineers, educators, students and battery users alike. The papers address battery chemistries, best battery choices and ways to make your battery last longer.
The presentations are easy-to-read and are limited to about 1000 words. The material is based on the book Batteries in a portable World - A handbook on rechargeable batteries for non-engineers, and is written in condensed form. The 300-page book and a library of battery articles are available on www.buchmann.ca. Battery service products are shown on www.cadex.com.
Battery University is sponsored by Cadex Electronics Inc., a manufacturer of battery analyzers and chargers. The material is free of charge for the benefit of all battery users and cannot be used for profit. If intended for publishing or educational purposes, please obtain permission from Isidor.Buchmann@cadex.com.
Battery University is organized into three parts. Part One addresses the 'mechanics' of the battery and deals with chemistries, charging, discharging, storing and recycling. Part Two looks at the personalities of different battery systems and describes ways to get the most out of them. Part Three reveals who is behind Battery University and provides links to various products to service your batteries. I hope you will enjoy the reading.
