Nice!
What a day today.... It started so quiet and boring with just some typical traffic and then I get dispatched to a Burglary.
I make contact with the victim and get all the info and he explains that he was out of town for two months and when he got home today he found his stuff gone.
While on my area check I find a neighbor next to him who said she saw the other neighbor in and out of the victims apartment about two weeks ago. A bit of time goes by and then the subject walks right past the witness and myself... the witness says... 'thats him, thats the guy who was in .... 's apt.'
I get on the radio to ask for a back up unit and the dispatcher yells at me that she is holding the air. So I try to take a priority for back up and possible perimeter if this guy runs on me and she cuts me off the air... so decisions decisions...
I made contact with the guy who bursts out... ' you wanna talk to me about that guys apt?'
and it was just down hill for him from there.... I took him into custody and read him Miranda and he was talking up a storm
ended up recovering all the property as well as arresting 3 others who had the stuff in another apt. and were involved.
what a nice day I had. Sgt said he would give me an 'atta girl recommendation thingy
the victim was sooo shocked to get his tv, dvd, palm pilot and other items back... and i was shocked TOO!
dunno... I just wanted to share - its nice and reminds me it is moments like this that I enjoy doing this job for...
oh and after when i was able to raise the dispatcher and advise burglary subject in custody... she was like WHAT???? so I had sgt call the shift commander.http://www.allpoetry.com/Grunts%20Girl

i get these guys alot. Usually while they are inside the house and or... fleeing and the property is long gone

Sounds like some of the shitty things our dispatchers would try.
We have too many that try to run the call from behind the console.
