Is on the job stress getting to you?

Statistics prove that LEO's have one of the most stressful jobs.
Having to make split second decisions is not an easy thing, as whether that decision was right or wrong it'll usually be questioned by the media and others.
High speed chases which provide exciting entertainment for those on the sidelines and TV viewers, is anything but for the officers, as it's a highly dangerous and life threatening situaton that adds stress to those involved.
In many instances an officer testifying in court proceedings is placed more on trial than the guilty suspect/s he arrested.
All of this, plus long hours, working with and under pressure from associates and superior officers, inadequate salaries and benefits, Etc. causes a high degree of stress on a law enforcement officer. However, truly dedicated officers willingly accept the risks and stress that go with the job, knowing that he or she is protecting life and property and is performing a much needed service to the citizens of the cities, counties, communities and states in which they serve.

Besides the fact that I don't sleep more than 2 hours at a time, I get quite ornery (sp?), I get a little over focused on the goal, I space out, I drink alone, or with other coppers because I feel I have nothing in common with anyone else in the world. I think I am doing ok. Lol, I accept it, it is part of the job and it can't be fixed so why even worry about it? I will have all the time to worry about it after I retire.

Some days yes, but i try to leave it at work, I maintain a active lifestyle outside of work, with hobbies, and social functions. is there somedays you wanna crawl in a bottle and drink for a few days you bet, I just try to avoid it as much as I can. Do i do that sometimes, yes but not that often, I learned a long time ago that makes you feel good for a little bit by dulling your senses, but it makes no positive long term effect.

I drink alone, yeah, with nobody else.
I drink alone, yeah, with nobody else.
Yeah, you know when I drink alone, I prefer to be by myself.

Now, every morning, just before breakfast,
I don't want no coffee or tea.
Just me and my good buddy Weiser.
    That's all I ever need.

Cause I drink alone, yeah, with nobody else.
I drink alone, yeah, with nobody else.
Yeah, you know when I drink alone, I prefer to be by myself.

Now, the other night I lay sleeping,
And I woke from a terrible dream.
So I called up my pal, Jack Daniels,
    And his partner Jimmy Beam.

And we drank alone, yeah, with nobody else.
We drank alone, yeah, with nobody else.
Yeah, you know when I drink alone, I prefer to be by myself.

Well, the other night I got invited to a party,
    But I stayed home instead.
Just me and my pal Johnny Walker,
And his brothers Black and Red.

And we drank alone, yeah, with nobody else.
We drank alone, yeah, with nobody else.
Yeah, you know when I drink alone, I prefer to be by myself.

Well, my whole family done give up on me,
And it makes me feel so bad.
The only one who'll hang out with me
    Is my dear old Granddad.

And we drink alone, yeah, with nobody else.
We drink alone, yeah, with nobody else.
Yeah, you know when I drink alone, I prefer to be by myself.

    Sorry, could not resist

OK I cant see how a FootBall player is stressful, physically demanding yes, but stressful. Also why in the different sections the most stressful jobs changes from graph to graph, and I dont mean the ones for differen countries. In the first one Police are listed as #2 or 3 and President isnt. Then further down the President is listed as #1. I can see that job as being stressful, but why the change. Maybe its me and the fact that only had about 2hrs sleep.

You know, I didn't realize my job was so high-strung, stressful, and a health risk until so many people from here and o.com keep telling me.

I think these websites will drive up my blood pressure more than the job will.

My job is not stressful; stupid people are stressful.

I just happen to work for, and deal with, a lot of stupid people.
