In the training scenario, Latoya Jackson shot an unarmed civilian on a routine traffic stop. If she stops me, I'm jumping off a bridge--that would probably give me a higher chance of survival.

So stupid, it's entertaining and definiately got some laughs -- but this show is very dangerous to the profession.

At first, it looked very staged...the opening DWI stop which immediately yielded several crackpipes and knives seemed a little much and I hope it all is...but either way, this show simply spreads misinformation about LE to the ignorant public, which will take it all in.

Apparently, anyone (recent drug addict or not), with a few extremely limited violence-based scenarios (I assume they had SOME classroom instruction?) can hit the streets where the action is non-stop, felons will be taken down constantly, and the world will be saved one bad guy at a time.

Sure, maybe applications will rise...but c'mon! What the hell is Muncie PD thinking?

P.S. I can't wait to see Weeman take someone down.

I think that it's probably about as close to real police work as Survivor or Gilligan's Island is to the life of real castaways.

    Here is Muncie PD's website:

I can't figure out, why a city of over 67,000 needs to do a tv show like this?

The show's producer is from Muncie, IN. He pitched to CBS and they bought it. The population is closer to 100K if you include Ball State University but they have their own police department.

Here in Texas the Reserve Academy lasts several months full-time, and is actually the same academy police officers take, although the physical part of the academy varies wildly from academy to academy and department to department - TCLEOSE standards apparently cover mostly academics, not so much physical standards.

Even the nighttime Academy I registered for starting later this month goes 6pm-10pm, 5 days a week, for like 3 months x 3, for a total of about 7 months, I believe.

Actually, there isn't a "reserve" acadamy in Texas, we have to take the same as full time.
I went through San Antonio Community College, 9 months.

I ended up not watching it. I don't want to give it any better ratings than it's already getting!

I had some of the same questions. I got a kick out of seeing them tazered. And the old lady drug violator who had her eye on Ponch.
Figured the PD got a boat load of money to do this. Why else?

Dudley hit it right, imagine the cash injection the police budget just got. But I do have to I was impressed with Jack Osbourne when they were "training" on the traffic stop, no hestitation found some cover and started busting rounds off, now granted thats probably a Saturday night at his own house, but he did good there. I have to say I think jason "wee man" Acuna, did the best. But even that being said, i would not be keen on having any of them as a partner. I loved when Ponch said he had a advantage cuz he played a cop for 7 years, thats fucked!

I thinking about writing the Chief to ask him if I can be a Reservist in 3 weeks and carry a gun if I move up there - I tried to hit a target today and only missed the paper 10 times from 7 yards, which is one less miss than LaToya - so I figure that qualifies me

I don't see any mention on their web site about Reservists
