Future Weapons
Has anyone seen this show? The episode last night featured a new kind of body armor called "Dragon Skin." It's made of (if I remember correctly) a combination of ceramic and titanium formed into disks that are layered like reptile skin.
They fired .762 steel core rounds into it, and the rounds didn't penetrate it. Same with 9mm rounds. Finally, they put the B.O.B. wearing the Dragon Skin vest directly on top of a frag grenade, then detonated the grenade. I'm sure any human in that situation would have broken ribs and internal damage, but nothing penetrated the Dragon Skin.
I thought it was pretty cool. Wonder how much it costs?

I also saw the show. That was pretty impressive. I'm also curious of the weight and how much movement is allowed.

I also caught one of the episodes. It definitely looks like a worth while way to burn a half-hour. I like the sniper rifle accurate over a mile and the "corner shot" gun.

If they cover "Liquid Armor" someone tape it for me plz.
What's that saying about if something seems too good to be true....

I like the show, especially the Metal Storm (1,000,000 rounds per minute 'machine' gun). About the dragon skin, I caught that show. It's pretty cool. It looked (from the show) that you would have the same amount of movement with the dragon skin as with regular kevlar, although it is hard to tell from the video. It probably weighs significantly more though. I would guess about 40 pounds. But that is just a guess...
As for if a person were in that situation, of laying on top of a grenade while wearing dragon skin, it would probably kill them, from the concussion, if not from shrapnel to the face which is unprotected.

When is it on so that I can DVR it.

Yeah, great show. The guy is a bit cheesy though, almost hard to believe he was a SEAL for 10 years. He kept calling incendiary rounds "incenerary".
Either way, the stuff on there is awesome. Wish it was an HD channel!

That dragon skin looked pretty sweet. they show quite a bit of cool stuff.
