"Picking up the nutria and bopping them on the head" doesn't have the same cachet.

    Heart Healthy 'Crock-Pot' Nutria
2 hind saddle portions of nutria meat
    1 small onion, sliced thin
1 tomato, cut into big wedges
    2 potatoes, sliced thin
    2 carrots, sliced thin
    8 Brussels sprouts
    1/2 cup white wine
    1 cup water
    2 teaspoons chopped garlic
    Salt and pepper to taste
    1 cup demi-glace (optional)

Layer onion, tomato, potatoes, carrots and Brussels sprouts in crockpot. Season nutria with salt, pepper and garlic, and place nutria over vegetables. Add wine and water, set crockpot on low and let cook until meat is tender (approximately 1-1/2 hours). Garnish with vegetables and demi-glace. Makes four servings.

    MMM, Mmm!

Just an hour and a half? it must be fairly tender meat. I'd definitely use the demi-glace, though.

Can you buy nutria in the supermarkets?

Ok, if someone would care to enlighten me as to what nutria is, I would appreciate it.

It's basically a big rodent that I think is related to groundhogs and muskrats. Not totally sure though.

We have lots of nutria around here. They're only good for target practice. I have met one person who admitted to eating them, but she was an inbred hillbilly. Do not eat the giant rats.

I have eaten most of the things that were on that show. I didn't see anything bizzare at all.

Id eat possum before I would eat chitlins again though. When you cook them your entire house smells like shit.
