1 small onion, sliced thin
1 tomato, cut into big wedges
2 potatoes, sliced thin
2 carrots, sliced thin
8 Brussels sprouts
1/2 cup white wine
1 cup water
2 teaspoons chopped garlic
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup demi-glace (optional)
Layer onion, tomato, potatoes, carrots and Brussels sprouts in crockpot. Season nutria with salt, pepper and garlic, and place nutria over vegetables. Just an hour and a half? it must be fairly tender meat. I'd definitely use the demi-glace, though.
Can you buy nutria in the supermarkets?

I dont think so unless it is DEEP, deep south LA.

A nutria or, locally around here a "nutra rat", just in case anyone wondered.Last edited by Cidp24; 03-28-07 at 12:02 AM.

I'll eat venison, rabbit, crawfish, oysters, and have eaten raw fish(not in a restaurant either), but I could never eat a possum or a Nutria, they look too much like giant rats! Yuck!!!!!

It's basically a big rodent that I think is related to groundhogs and muskrats. Not totally sure though.

We have lots of nutria around here. They're only good for target practice. I have met one person who admitted to eating them, but she was an inbred hillbilly. Do not eat the giant rats.

I have eaten most of the things that were on that show. I didn't see anything bizzare at all.
Id eat possum before I would eat chitlins again though. When you cook them your entire house smells like shit.dlefdal said:
