TV Show: The Academy
Pretty good show on Fox Reality called "The Academy" is on right now. Tonight the LA County Sheriff's Academy is trying to teach new recruits to shoot, many of whom have apparently never held a gun before.
One of them was hyperventilating shooting at paper targets, one pointed at the hammer when asked where the rear sight was, and pointed his gun at another recruit

Definitely an entertaining show. I feel bad for the recruits who do poorly in the academy because the whole country as able to know about it!

I saw every episode of last season (355) and DVR every week this one too.
If my agency had our own academy I would be a DI in a second.
I like the episode before last- best quote ever.
Miley asked the recruit who screwed up while trying to give the class drill commands if she knew where she screwed up. She replied no and he said "it was when you called 800-BEADEPUTY and agreed to take the test thinking you can do this job"

Looks like I've been missing a lot!

Hopefully they'll re-run some of last season too.

We dallied under
Vine maples and sapling alders
Searched for lady slippers
But instead
Found blackberry riots and
Desiccated branches
An old skid road
Brought ghost ferns and
Hollows filled with
Skunk cabbage
While waves wrapped
Intricate lacings of weeds
'Round mule spinners
His cyanotic eyes
Were hard enough to make
The sun turn tail and
Tender enough to attract me
To his world of illusion

I love the show, too. It reminds me of when I was an academy instructor, myself.

I think it is taken as a given that people with no shooting experience often do well when taught properly for just that reason.
I also hear that women learn better and faster than men a lot of the time, because men go in with preconceived notions that they can do it and damn being instructed how, while women will go in with an "I want to learn," attitude.
That certainly varies by individual, but when you consider the old "joke" about how men don't read instructions...it makes sense.--

I watched it while I was going through the academy and it helped keep me motivated... Why I don't know. I still watch it though and this season makes me have flashbacks.

I don't like many reality shows, but this is one i definately put on the DVR. Is it just me, or is this class nothing but retards? I haven't watched any of the previous seasons, so I can't compare classes, or what issues Fox fixates on. You know how they sometimes make piddly B.S. look worse than it is.

It's definitely looking like they have a few more recruits that need special attention than last season. But it looks like Turner, who got separated from 355, might actually make it.
