Gymnastics
Watching the Olympics tonight while chowing dinner. I have to say, these people that compete are amazing! I am about 1/20 as talented as some of these people.
So to the point, I was watching Gymnastics and China was doing their thing on the rings. HOLLY CRAP! I can not believe the muscle control, stamina, precision, etc etc etc. These people fricken kicked some ass. I know they work at it their entire life but un-believeable! My lazy ass couldnt probably even hang from the rings for more than 20 seconds let along do all the tricks and holds.
I will never refer to someone that does gymnastics as a sissy, un fricken believeable!Somebody Please, what the hell is that smell?

The views, opinions, stupid off the cuff comments, mouthy, obnoxious, thoughtless, etc etc etc are not always or even some of the time the belief of my department, so bugger off!

I tried some gymnastics the other night with my wife but unfortunately didn't stick the landing. Pulled my back but I'll be ok. It's gonna take some more practice. Along with a set of rings, some uneven bars, a pummel horse and a thick mat. I'll let you know.

They are all amazing to me..............a lifetime of sacrifice, well most are very young, so half a lifetime..............lol. I was watching the other night and I see this sport I have no idea what it was, five on five (females), it seems to be a mixture of hockey and field hockey. So I am watching because I want to find out what the heck it was...................well after about 15 minutes they finally say what it is. TEAM HANDBALL..............what the hell, no walls involved, they just run around and try and throw a softball size ball into a net. It's the OLYMPICS so I watch for a little while.

I've watched gymnastics in the past. Those people are very talented at what they do. I also like swimming, volleyball and weight lifting. Watched archery and water polo last night.

I agree with CTR about volleyball. BEACH VOLLEYBALL FTW. The girls have pretty faces, but their butts are fantastic! Call me a sucker, but I love girls with tanned athletic bodies.

Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh...

Speaking of Gymnastics, did anyone see the routine of one of the German girls? She dangled and dropped off the high bars not once but twice. Loss of momentum? She did seem pretty tall for the sport. Still she got right back up and finished the routine. That takes guts and determination.

I was watching swimming last night and I previously thought all of this hype around Michael Phelps was just NBC giving him way too much lip service. That guy can swim.
The great thing about the Olympics and sports in general is it gives a nice distraction from everyday life. I mean most people don't give two hoots about gymnastics but for 2 weeks in the summer every four years everyone watches in amazement and roots for "our team".

I think the best part about the swimming this year was when France got the Gold medal stolen from them in the 4 x 100 m free relay. USA came from behind and won by .08 of a second. They didn't know what hit them.
I believe that Phelps will now hold the record for the most medals received.

Sucks about the women's gymnastics all-around finals. I was kinda rooting for them.

I too have to admit that Phelps is an outstanding athlete, but with that being said I still prefer women's gymnastics and Women's beach volleyball to the pool anyday!

I still think China's Gymnasts are underage but when the issuing authority wants to win they can put anything on a pasport.
