Who will be watching...........and what will the score be?
I predict we're going to lose badly at any contest not involving guns or a team full of hoods who can barely manage a coherent sentence.
What is this game you speak of? We Americans are unaware of any such event... :noidea:
:D
USA: 10
England: -5

Soccer? What the hell is Soccer????? :noidea:
If the USA wins the world cup, I'm going to rub it in to a certain immigration attorney I frequently debate with.
To prove my point: When U.S. postmen and miners humbled England - CNN.com
I know I just linked to cnn to "prove" something, but this is sports not news, so that is OK. :p
For some reason I doubt the US will win. And I couldn't care less if they lose. I'm into real sports like cheerleading and beer drinking:biggrin1:
We should start an "IF the US won the world cup, I would..." thread.
We're hanging in there, fellow Americans! The first 20 didn't go real well for the US (as usual), but they had a lot of scoring chances on England and squeaked in one of the softest goals you'll ever see in a World Cup game in the 40th minute...tied 1-1 at the half.
1-1 at the end. Well played USA.
Bunch of overpaid pre madonnas represeting England though. Twats.
It's so frustrating watching your national team play so far below their abilities.
This just goes to show that, in the unlikely story that is America, there's never been anything false about hope! :thumb: :cheer2:
I don't think I have ever seen more than a minute or two of soccer. Most of that was on YouTube watching funny or odd videos.
I support watching odd videos on YouTube. Now if there was just some way to make that pay...
So, I have a question. Why isn't soccer a popular spectator sport in these parts? Had an IM blastfest with a friend, here's some of what we came up with.
A ) US sports fans will follow international sports, so long at the other nation is Canada. The better Canada is at the sport, the less interest. This is the Baseball/Hockey Rule.
B ) Though "soccer moms" have been around for well over a decade the TV sports fan only cares about soccer moms if they are playing beach volleyball.
C ) Kids don't care. They play what's fun to play and watch what's fun to watch.
C.1) Soccer may become more popular as those kids age, evidence of trend not yet found.
C.2) Minivan racing isn't a TV sport. Sorry soccer moms. NASCAR does have trucks though so there's hope.
C.3) Top Gear style soccer with crashed Toyota and Renault micros would be a popular TV sport. Yes, that was my contribution. I was overruled. Not American enough somehow
D ) Whispering can make even golf seem dramatic.
I haven't found the recipe to make soccer popular in America. Anyone see a way to assemble these observations into a spectacle...er, spectator sport? :biggrin1:
