If I don't lose weight, within the next 10 years I can expect diabetes and/or a heart attack. She also said I'm too smart to be fat. I am to look at going to the gym as physical therapy.

When you FINALLY go to the Doc, and he tells you:

1) Your heart is only functioning at about 20% capacity,
2) Your BP is 180 (sumptin') over some other ridiculous # that I've forgotten,
3) You have at least three blockages,
4) Oh, and BTW - You've had two heart attacks!

SAY WHAT?

Who the hell you talkin' to, Doc? There's only two of us in this room!

He was talkin' to me, alright.
A few weeks and a quadruple bypass later, I have decided that if I sneeze more than twice in one day - I'm calling for a freakin' appointment.

At one time I let myself go and weighed 295. I am 215 now and 6'1". But when I was that big my Lt. called me in his office and told me I would feel much better if lost weight. Well, me being me, I told him he would feel much less of a jackass if he thought before speaking. I have mirrors and a scale in my house and know exactly what I look like and what I weigh. Well, I was so pissed at him I started Atkins the next day and by 6 months later had lost the 80 pounds. I made an appointment with him and gave him a $50 gift certificate as a peace offering and the driving force behind it all.

Nothing! I had no clue. I never felt any of the symptoms.

Told him that I go through 1st Aid/CPR training every year, and I had been an EMT for several years, and I know the signs of a heart attack. I did not recall ever feeling any of them.

He did say that they were likely very mild attacks, but the evidence was there that I had experienced two of 'em.

It was more along the lines of "You know exactly what you have to do, you know the repercussions if you don't. You just haven't bothered to do anything about it. You're way smarter than that, and if I have to kick your ass, you're going to do it!" She was pretty upset with me.

My whole family has or had some form of weight, heart or cancer problems. I haven't the slightest idea how I've not had any issues. When my mother passed away suddenly due to copd and hocum her doctor put a rush on my exam. Pump seems fine.
I don't drink much, and only enjoy the occasional cigar. However when it comes to food and coffee I abuse my body like a cheap sex toy. I can't tell you how I'm not carrying a huge spare tire. I have decided to go back to the gym for the umteenth time. We'll see how long I last this time.

Been going to the gym for a week now, and it's starting to grow on me. I have noticed a trend though, if I'm on the treadmill I start giving the other women there nicknames. Today, the women I saw were Boob Job, her friend No Ass, Anorexia, and Kinky Grandma. Kinky Grandma came in wearing leopard print shorts over spandex.

Happiness is, I have lost 5 pounds in the last week. It's a start.
