Indy driver Dan Wheldon killed in wreck
Two cars touched tires, instigating the incident in the pack running inches apart on the high-banked 1.5-mile oval. Wheldon's car, ensnared in the jumble in the middle of the racetrack, flew over another and caught part of the catch fence just past the apex of Turn 2. The incident left cars smoldering and car parts strewn along the backstretch.

I was watching football when this was on, and I was clicking back and forth between this and football. I saw the first couple laps, came back later and the race was red flagged. They didn't show any replays while I was watching, then I went back to football and forgot about it.
I'm not an indy car fan, but from what I understand they were pushing around 225 mph when they went into that corner. I think NASCAR hits maybe 180, 185 mph on that track. No one has greater love than this, to lay down ones life for ones friends - John 15:13

I caught the replay from youtube. I knew the outcome was bad when they weren't replaying the crash. Absolutely horrific.

SI VIS PACEM PARA BELLUM-Ex-Sheriff Martin Howe to Will Kane in "High Noon"
"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.
