In the IRL there was a minimum car weight, with no consideration for the driver though this is a common rule across professional racing. Weight takes power to move, save the math and horse racing examples - with equal talent she should have been 1-3 tenths quicker, depending on circuit, than anyone else. Instead that advantage was used to keep her mid-pack, just ahead of the washouts from other series and has-beens. DanicaNation was very hard to stomach as they cheered girl empowerment while the male drivers were showing up looking like starved heroin addict runway models.
NASCAR has an absolute minimum car weight and driver included weight - anyone under 140 can get an advantage, but a vastly less significant one. Now if she does well it's something actually done well, not just a feel good story. If there was any advantage yesterday it was wind and that's shared luck. Besides, she beat out Jeff Gordon for the pole and I'm pretty sure she could take him in an arm wrestling tie-breaker.
