maybe freedomfighter is right we should only enforce the laws that he likes and ignore all others. maybe we should do as the police association president said we should be like firemen and hang around the station untill called for, maybe then he'll be happy.

you really need a reality check. This is not a fascist nation, and your comparing it to one is an insult. You say any law that removes freedom is counter productive....but isnt that the definition of a law? Name one law you are in favor of that doesnt remove someones freedom??? Again, you are refering to anarchy. There is no way that you can enforce a law without first infringing on someones "personal" freedoms. The fact is we are a representative democracy, and the laws on the books have been voted in. As a citizen, you have the responsability to follow the laws until they are changed thru the democratic process. Failure to do so is an insult to the founding fathers you so love to reference. You do not have the right to pick and choose which laws you wish to follow without bearing the consequences of violating those laws...ie fines, jail etc. Also, you say the student was leaving, and that the police officers just wanted to torture him? In your world I suppose ignorance is bliss. The fact is if he was leaving as instructed, the police would have never tased him. He was making a choice to be defiant, insulting, and to violate the law. His punishment was not torture, it was not in my opinion excessive. It was deserved. Also, I think it is VERY insulting of you to make comments on what the officers were thinking, since you have absolutely NO idea what it is like to wear a badge.

So we dont enforce any laws and we become a reactionary force instead of being pro-active. So we will be like fire fighters, we only go when called and do nothing to try and prevent crime from occuring. I dont think many people, outside his small circle of friends, would like that very much.
