The a-hole ignored and resisted a approximately 114 commands throughout the incident. We're not talking rocket science here. Do as you are told, and you'll never ever be tazed. It's pretty simple isn't it....

And if you are here just to stir up shit, I suggest you take it somewhere else. You won't get 114 chances to be a jerk off here.

I'm having a lot of fun discussing this incident on another forum. I am amazed at some of the responses I've read there.

The bottom line concerning this incident is that the kid thought he was in charge. He wasn't.

That's a hard lesson for some people to learn.

Wow, I don't know how I could police in a university. Especially when they're full of educated yet ignorant, sanctimonious, self-righteous students who think that now they've read some books on sociology, they know how the world works.

    To quote Team America:
"Pussies are people who think everyone can get along."

Good job to those officers for being so patient; I know where I work, no one gets told to do something more than twice.

"The pacifist is as surely a traitor to his country and to humanity as is the most brutal wrongdoer. "

    Thumbs up

I don't see the big deal,he was given ample oppurtunity to do as he was told, but being a smart ass know it all he chose not to obey. He should be happy all he got was a taze. If that was my agency he would have got A: a beat down as we don;t have tazers, or B: a beat down with OC. So I'm thinking he should be happy with the options he was given. In my humble opinion those Officers used the lowest force that was required, no real physical handling and a taze, thats great.

Maybe a CA LEO can answer this for me. Basically, in CT, you cannot resist arrest. The time to figure out if it was legal is another day when you get in court.

What's the CA statute on that?

    Look for the UCLA thread.

Apparently the student was the only one asked to show his ID, and either didn't have it or didn't want to show it because he felt he was being racially profiled - I don't know. He was already leaving when he officers forcibly grabbed him to remove him then tasered him when he pulled away and tried to leave. The officers said they felt "they were in danger."

In danger from what.. some kid and his backpack? Give me a break. This is blatent abuse of power. They attacked him multiple times with a taser for "being a danger and not standing when asked too." I'm sure many of you have been hit with a taser.. I have, and I could NOT stand for at least a minute. He wasn't and couldn't have been violent, he was laying on the ground screaming from the torture the officers were giving him.

This is why I support the second amendment and EVERYONE'S constitutional right to carry.

That's obvious. Apparently he was causing a scene, which alerted security, in turn he was a typical woe is me, I am being profiled, I am a victim, I want to be a martyr, I left my strap on at home, obnoxious verbally anti patriot act asshole, challenged them even before being asked for his ID and then refused. The verbal confrontation was escalating and a mob was forming. They did what they had to do when idiots don't comply, incite violence and endanger others.

this guy did not have his i.d., and was asked to leave he refused. so cops show up they asked him to leave he refused. at this point he became a passive resister. which is non-movement in response to verbal and other direction. so pain compliance is warranted against that type of resistance. this is not abuse of power my friend look it up every dept uses a use of force model. alot of cops i know use ask, tell, and make. in this ucla example as a cop you ask that guy to leave. if he refuses you tell him to leave. if he refuses again then you make him leave. charge him with trespassing which means knowingly and without authority enters or remains within a building after receiving notice from the owner or occupant to depart. also charge him with D/C and resisting.

Let me explain something to you dumb-ass, when the Police tell you to do something, You do it!!

And you are correct I do have some criticism for those officers. I'm wondering why they didn't taze about 4 or 5 more of those students. At my department with my partners it would have been a whole different situation. We don't put up with cowards who scream from the crowd, there would have been several more people going to jail that day. And you definitely don't get in the middle of our scene. And hopefully they resist or pull away, then they would be be laying on the ground next to their buddy.

And we don't have tazers We still use good ole mace and night sticks. And remember one more thing dumb-ass, you can resist verbally also. If I tell you to put your hands behind your back and you refuse then physical force is coming next.
