Now here's a consensual "crime" that I bet a LOT of you committed as a young person. Underage drinking. Should we lower the drinking age and save a lot of young people a major hassle?

No and we should not lower our standards here.
:yo:
Heres my idea.
Lower the legal drinking age to 16 or 18, BUT then we should increase the age requirement to get a drivers license to 21. So it would be your trade off. You want to get drunk under 21? Okay fine. But no driving then until you have had a while to get it out of your system.
What you all say?
How about if you have a military Id yes; no ID no.
And if you’re a card carrying whatever you guys are not here.
Nothing personal just business.
:yo:
I think we should lower the drinking age to 15...
Then put Ian's mother, daughter, and grandmother in the car with the drunk-ass 15-year-old.
If you are old enough to die for your country, no reason you should not be able to have a beer.
I think it's a good idea to learn to drink before you learn to drive. Then you might learn some responsibility. However, I don't think that the transition would be smooth at all. In fact, i think that they would end up reverting back to the 21 to drink and 16 to drive on your own type deal. :noidea:
........hence my point.
The "Eliminate it entirely, let bars and stores decide who to sell to. "
"Would" take the curiosity out of alcohol and if you could buy it just like Coca-Cola you would eliminate the "forbidden fruit" aspect to alcohol consumption.
So I want to change my vote to that selection after thinking about it more.
If your kids are consuming alcohol and you don't want them to, that should be a parenting issue, not a government one. Just like smoking.
When anyone drinks, there is always the possibility of doing something stupid. They won't be anymore responsible than a 21 yo on their B-day. I was just thinking that being in the military carries a little more responsibility than average joe citizen. If a person signs up to put there lives on the line, maybe they should be able to tip one back with their buddies.
hahahahahahahahahaha yes lower the drinking age i havent been to enough underage drinking fatals. I am getting tempted to close every law hating thread you hippy punks open
BEK, they would not have been any better with a 21 YO behind the wheel. The fact you have been on enough underage drinking fatals shows you the drinking age is not perventing young people from drinking and driving as it is.
While I HATE to agree with anything these pukes say...
Nope. If you're stupid enough to underage drink, then you deserve to be "hassled"- by the police if not your parents or peers.
Many studies have shown that in many young adults, the brain is still developing as far as your mid-20s.
I think young adults, before they are old enough to drink, understand the importance of moderation. The 18-21 year gap will give the chance to see their older friends drink and see what happens when you do drink too much.
I've seen too many kids die of alcohol poisoning to change my position on this particular issue.
BEK...sounds like a helluva idea.....
