crotch rockets
i have a "ninja" style motorcycle AKA crotch rockets AKA superbikes
im sure you are familiar with them...
are these things a problem? how do you handle them? i dont condone running from police or speeding, but i have heard several stories from other riders and even have one of my own
several riders say that local PD's wont chase them, the state police highway patrol are the only ones who will attempt a persuit.
these bikes are incredibly powerful for those who have not riden one. they can break any legal speed limit in 1rst gear and have 6 total gears. they will do 187mph stock from the show room floor and would go higher but all japanese bikes have a limiter at 187mph (300kph) they will accelerate instantaniously. these $8000 bikes will eat a lamburgeni alive. so you get the picture. they are fast
have yall had any run in's with these things?
the guy i bought my bike from said he had the highway patrol attempt to chase him twice, but they had no chance. he gunned it and took the nearest exit and made a clean getaway both times.
he bragged that when he would accidently speed past local PD's they would just shake their finger at him.
i got off work the other night at 2am on a monday night, and i live in a town of about 25000 people, so yeah, it's a small town. i got on the highway to head home and there was not a single car in sight in either direction, so i hit the gas hard for a few seconds. wound up at 160mph in a heartbeat. next thing i know i flew past a cop parked in the median who was running radar. i never saw any lights, but im sure he radio'ed it in to other officers
not bragging, but that's my story and ive heard the same story countless times from other riders
im not trolling or trying to stir the pot, but i was wanting to hear your (LEO) side of these storiesLast edited by Crotch Rocketer; 05-23-07 at 12:28 PM.

LOL i dont think i'd ever have the balls to run from a cop. too much at stake
once i passed the cop doing 160 i slowed way down. by the time i got it back down to 55mph im sure i was hundreds of yards past him, but i never saw him pull out after me. i took the exit and as i was crossing back over the highway, i looked down the stretch and didnt see any headlights or blue lights
how would you handle this?
you are sitting in a median running radar on an empty highway (probably looking for drunks, i live in a college town) and you see motorcycle lights coming at you fast as a mother%^&*. you look at your radar and it says 161mph, you look up and the motorcycle is has already flown past you and is disappearing into the horizen
you are at a dead stop in your cruiser that can do what? maybe 130? (and it takes maybe 25-30seconds to get to that speed?)
are you honestly going to attempt to catch a 160mph bike that passed you on the fly while you were at a dead stop?
logically there is no way. im sure the cop i passed said "yea right" and just called it in on the radio for other units to look out for
again, not bragging, but that's how it happened and im just speculating at this point

Speed Kills
Two killed in motorcycle crash in Mission Valley
UNION-TRIBUNE BREAKING NEWS TEAM
6:53 a.m. May 21, 2007
SAN DIEGO – Two people killed in high-speed motorcycle crash Sunday night in Mission Valley have been identified as an active-duty Navy man and his sister.
They were Christopher Lee Williamson, 21, who was stationed at North Island Naval Air Station and Rachel Farrelly, 25, from Imperial Beach, the county Medical Examiner's Office said Monday.
Officers tried to stop the pair for speeding as they were riding in a group with two other motorcycles heading east on Interstate 8 at Taylor Street just after 7 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
The driver accelerated to over 100 mph and overtook a second CHP unit at about 110 to 115 mph at Hotel Circle, the CHP said.
The driver then took the ramp to southbound Interstate 805 at 75 to 80 mph and struck the left guard rail, CHP officials said.
Both the driver and the rider were thrown off the bike and over the side, landing some 75 feet below in a parking lot on Camino del Rio South, where they died.
The ramp was closed until just before 6 a.m. as authorities investigated.
CHP officer Rob Sanchez said the other motorcyclists did not stop.
The Medical Examiner's office said the pair were originally from Missouri.Molly Weasley makes Chuck Norris eat his vegetables.

Why in the hell would you be driving that fast just for shits and giggles anyway.
you are conterdicting what you said.
now you are saying that you have to much to lose, or quote "to much at stake".

A guy on a bike just got killed here. He was speeding down Rt.1 when he hopped onto a median for God knows what reason, probably to avoid hitting, or getting hit. Anyways, he then hit the merge sign, the sign cut him in half, and then his arm got ripped off. His legs stayed on the bike and traveled about 200 yards furthur. His upper torso lay right after the sign.

and no, there is NO contridiction in my post. i did NOT run from the police. i was speeding, yes, infact just 5mph away from triple speedlimit, but i did not run. i saw the cop and i slowed down. it takes a good bit a room to slow down from 160mph.
i did keep driving, yes. but i continued to drive at the speed limit. should i have volentarily pulled over even though there were no lights? LOL

I would chase, have chased. Only had a few get away from me too. Most cant drive well at that speed. Just because the bike can go that speed doesnt mean you can handle that speed for an extended amount of time. Im trained to drive at those speeds, around corners etc. I dont think you are trained, or can do it for a long time. You will have to stay on an interstate type road to get away. Well there are only so many exits you can take my friend. Plus my radio is much faster than your bike, its only a matter of time till we catch you.
the few that have gotten away and werent charged, well two of them were layed 6' under. They wont get a second chance to make that stupid choice again."An Unarmed man can only flee from evil, and evil is not overcome by fleeing from it." Jeff Cooper

And what do you think our response should be?? Really...
Most officers won’t (shouldn’t) discuss their pursuit policy on an open forum

i hope you wont ever get me, because i dont make a habit of driving that way. i usually try to get my best times on the track, not the highway
you must have chased a lot of rookie bikers. these superbikes (with an experienced rider) can take corners WAYYYY faster than any car could ever dream of
the flip side is, you put a rookie rider on a bike and they arent comfertable and lack experience and they end up taking the corners much slower than a car would
HYPOTHETICALLY if i was trying to run from a cop, or anyone for that matter, i'd prefer to be in the city or on some kind of winding road. that's the best place for me to put distance between me and you.
anyone who stays on the interstate during a chase is stupid. too easy to radio ahead and get a road block and have other units up waiting. EXIT DUMMY!!! LOL
but again, i wouldnt run from police, much less in a city with people around.

no i do not have any formal training other than the several thousands of miles that i have logged on race tracks with my bike. i can take hard corners at 120mph no prob.
this isnt a trolling remark, but if you take your cruiser to my track, trained and all, i will dust you.
