    I was in Lima, Peru in February and it really was quite nice. There was no sewage in the streets, it was surprisingly very clean for a large city. Miraflores is as lovely and clean as anything you would find in any American City. The people are friendly (even the poor folks) and helpful (something you won't find in some of our larger cities.)

    Yeah, a lot of the capital cities are nice down that way, I'm told, but how is it if you get off the tourist paths?

    I've actually never been to Peru or even Mexico, but if I ever do, I think I'll stick to the resort and heavily traveled tourist areas.

    The only foreign countries I've been in are the UK & Scotland. At least not a lot of Americans disappear in the UK when they go off on day trips by themselves.
