    Hi Folks...

    Thank you for allowing to join this forum.

    Just a little about myself, the first part of my life was spent out west where my father was the sheriff of our county. We then moved to Michigan and he worked with the DOC until his retirement in 1995. My mother worked for a circuit court judge for 23 years.

    My father always tried to steer me toward a career in law enforcement and after a stint in the Coast Guard, I did in fact go in that direction. However, I enjoyed working on the water too much and felt something was missing in my life. So I started a career working on ore freighters in the Great Lakes as a ships officer, until I was forced from that profession by the influx of cheap Japanese steel and lagging auto sales in the American market. During the winter months when I wasn't at sea, I would reside in Colorado and do avalanche search and recovery with my Golden Retriever "Chelsea" who was with me an amazing 17 years, and who sadly I had to put down in Dec. of 2005.

    I now reside in Northern Michigan, with my horses and German Shepherd named "Dog", where I do some farming/ranching, and am a freelance writer. I try to concentrate my writing efforts on current events, with great emphasis on issues involving law enforcement, however, I also write what my publisher wants, and the majority of the public wants, which is celebrity news, and all that claptrap Hollywood garbage that bores me to death.     I also work with my volunteer fire dept., as well as being a reserve deputy with our mounted division until our unit was disbanded due to budget constraints, and we are now strictly volunteer, doing parades, shows for children and crowd control for our many summer festivals, concerts and county fairs.

    I guess that pretty well spells it out for everyone, thanks again for letting me be a part of your forum, I look forward to sharing opinions and thoughts with you all.

    Thanx Jewell! After having "Chelsea" my Golden Retriever who worked with me in search/recovery (and in NYC 9/01) for the better part of 17 yrs, I wasn't sure I wanted another dog. But in April I got "Dog", a German Shepherd, and she's turned into a great companion.
