... because I overheard Sundown and TheeBadOne talking about this place on GT, I just -had- to see what the fuss was all about. So far, I've been giggling pretty much non-stop as I was waiting for my own card to get punched (sorry Cochese, I put down TBO as my referrer-type-person).

Not saying how old I am or am not (which means I'm not young....blah, did I put my DOB in my profile, geez I hope not. LOL), but I'm originally from Jersey, transplanted to Cali, then uprooted and replanted in Central Texas.

I've done a slow dance around LE since I was in gradeschool, abandoned the idea as an adult (because of my ex-moron) until after the divorce, then went to college. I tried to do the whole CJ thing and realized my campus didn't offer anything but GenEd Liberal Arts degrees or Nursing degrees. I finished my AA in time to move to Texas and then waited the requisite year (residency) to enroll at Texas State.

Somewhere along the line I'd gotten up to my eyeballs in Forensic Anthropology (see, still that slow dance around SOMETHING in LE), and had gotten damn proficient with a pistol (still suck with the AR, but I'm getting there..... ok on the bench, no so hot while moving and engaging....yet. Hey it's new! Cut me some slack!) Sometime in the last year things just started to fall into place and I started doing a slow burn about a -life- in LE again. I'd drop not-so-subtle hints around my spouse (new one, not the ex-moron..LOL) until I finally just said "Yanno, I want to do this. I think I'd be -happy- doing this, and I honestly can't see myself doing anything else and being able to do it day-in, day-out". Shock of shock, he agreed and said he'd been wondering how long it would take before I finally came out and said it.

I'm currently in process with Austin PD and will have a few other apps put in with other agencies that MIGHT sponsor me through academy. Barring that, if no one picks me up, I'll put myself through CAPCOG in the Fall or early Spring and see where that gets me. If nothing else, the delay until CAPCOG might allow me to finish out my BS (in CJ-LE, since I'd switched my declaration back at the end of this semester).

Anyway, enough prattle on from me.

Yeah, well...forensic anthro generally involves dirt and old crap (as I generally reply when folks ask "A degree in WHAT??" "Dirt and old crap!") and not formaldehyde though it's possible if the parts are still skooshie and smelly. My concentration has generally been skeletal to this point.

Anyway, here I go rambling again. Just happy to be here I guess after watching y'all for a bit. Seems like a decent mix of folks here so it's all good! Y'all bored yet???
