HOWDY.. From Texas......

Hello to everybody out there....... I just found this place about a month or two ago and just now got around to registering after doing alot of reading, looks like a great place for people with like minds...

It can be quite hostile on other forums..

Now with that said here is alittle about myself..

I live about 30 miles from the MetroMess (DFW), and had planned on attending the academy and earning my Associates Degree here at our local college which has a pretty good Criminal Justice program. At 34 years old and trying to get back into good shape is a up hill battle but it is one that I'm winning, so far I have my 1.5 mile run time down to a 9:51 and doing pretty good with the situps and pushups also...but like most things that you THINK you have well planned out...well it happens ...work slowed and tuition money got spent on bills so I have had to put things off till the next class rotation which will be Aug of next year... so in the mean time I will take advantage to study my but off on the codes and written material and keep working on getting my physical numbers better and be WELL prepared next year.....

Seems like a great site here and keep up the good work...

Howdy. Which academy you thinking about going to? The only one I can think of 30 miles from DFW is Weatherford. If you don't feel like waiting until next August you might try the academy at Tarrant County College.....if you don't mind the drive that is. Anyhow, good luck and welcome.

Spd110, its is the one at WC..... it s not so much the drive its a convience thing...I'm having to take the night classes due to my job, its a 600 hour course over a 11 month period. I already have class for three hours on Wed nights..and my responsiblities with that class take up alot of free time being I'm assisting in the training aspects, with both of my daughters also being in the same class.....

Hi from DFW... The part I'm in depends on the time of day you're talking about. I'm going to police academy evenings at one of the community colleges & almost finished Collin County Community College's CJ program before they told me I had to take History (hick-poo).

Never went back, maybe I will someday when the history class quits talking about stuff that happened so long ago, even before I was born. WHy should I give a shit about that?
