Hello everyone
Well to start out I am new here as everyone can see. I am currently attending Kaplan University online for an AAS in criminal justice. At this time I am working a in a factory to pay bills.
I have a son who turns one year old this month and a loving supportive wife. I should graduate next December at which time I will be looking for a job with my local PD. I have not been to the academy yet but know they will send me after being hired (a few years back I went through the whole process made it to interview for one position). After completing the academy I plan to go after my BS in criminal justice with a focus in crime scene investigation. All in all this should take me around 3 ½ to 4 years before I get a change to do evidence tech at my local PD.
Today I interviewed the supervisor for the scientific investigation unit here where I live for a class this term. That was pretty cool he seems to be a very nice guy and even offered help if I needed it in the future.
I am not in law enforcement yet but I do put much thought into how nice it will be to be a part of the career I dream of doing.
I had a pretty bad start with the law in my late teens but eventually came about and straightened up. I know I can make it through the back ground because I was very honest about it before and made it to the interview. I was going against others with prior experience so I understand why I was not chosen at that time. But they did mention my honesty in the interview.
I don’t have any unrealistic dreams of saving the world or it being like on TV but I do hope I make a difference even if it is for one person.
I guess that is all I can tell you about myself for now. Glad to meet all of you.

Interesting screen name choice. You wouldn't happen to like magic tricks and have a very large brother, would you?
And Shepards we shall be,
for thee, My Lord, for thee,
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand,
That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy Command.
So we shall flow a river forth to Thee
And teeming with souls will it ever be.

Haha yes I am a Dragonlance fan.
I have used this screen name for years. Raist is of course my favorite with Tass a close second (I have two cats with those same names lol). The Orr part is my last name.
I have not read any in a few years though. Now with school, work and a child that would be really hard to do hehe.
Good to meet you.

Wow so many replies so quickly.....I feel pretty special lol.
I am sure I will enjoy it here.
I debate/disscuss many issues on other forums and boards for school so I tend to post large posts some times.
I hope everyone likes to read lol. I enjoy disscussing the same issue on differenet boards at the same time so that I can get a better idea of what people are thinking and what makes them who they are.

Welcome!

A Smile
A smile cost nothing, but gives so much.
It enriches those who receive it,without making poorer those who give.It takes but a moment, but the memoryof it sometimes lasts forever.
None is so rich or mighty that hecan get along without it,and none is so poor but thathe can be made rich by it.
A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters goodwill in business, and is the countersign of friendship.
It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad,and it is nature's best antidote for trouble.
Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed,or stolen, for it is something that is of novalue to anyone until it is given away.
Some people are too tired to give you a smile.Give them one of yours, as none needs a smileso much as he who has no more to give.
