I work for the Orange County Sheriff's Dep. in Southern Cal.

7 yrs. and some months on the job. worked the jail for 7 and recently got my release date to work patrol. Loving life again.

Some of the best deputies I have worked with were stationed in the jail for a while before hitting the streets.

I think it (working the floors) teaches you how to better deal with people and get what you want done without unnecessarily escalating the situation.

Good job on sticking out the 7 waiting for a patrol slot, and remember to be careful out there.
