Hey from Philly
just want to check in and say hello. my name is eric im from philadelphia and just got the call on tuesday that i got accepted into the philadelphia police academy starting august 11th
. I first applied over 4 years ago and have been going through the longest most drawn out process in the world, but it all paid off! 
just saying hi and if anyone is in the area feel free to let me know and give me any advice while im in the academy.

Xiphos is right, it hasn't begun yet. Learn all you can from each instructor, the battle stories you hear in the academy may save your life. Experience is the best teacher and most every instructor is a veteran officer, they know what they are talking about from experience. Book learning is good, but your instructors have been there and done that, don't dismiss their stories as bulls**t. Best of luck and welcome to the site from Kentucky.

thanks everyone! my dad is a cop here in philly too and he told me the same thing xiphos, shut your mouth and learn everything i can, also go to the "optional" classes on saturdays and after classes cause not only will it look good but i will learn even more. Im so excited to start learning and for this life changing experience. ill keep everyone updated as i go through, and cant wait to hear what you guys have to say/teach me
